Holy ****... $400 cheaper than the PSS! They always come a close second in the tests so this should be a really good value. Just amended my order so I'll let you know how they work out for me when I put them on in March. :icon17:

It's funny because yesterday we were going to order PSS for my wife's Focus ST, but we noticed the S-04 was around $260 cheaper for the set. I never thought to look at the S-04 for the Z when I placed the order. $440... madness. That covers the sway bars and then some.

ALL OF THE SAVINGS!!!

But seriously I think I would have to go with those for sure if I wasn't boosted. I really wonder how big the performance gap is between the two. It may not even matter.

Welp...its off to tirerack.com

m4a1mustang 12-03-2013 01:52 PM

With boost... probably not a huge difference in straight line traction. You may want to consider the RE-11 since you're putting down so much more power than a N/A car.

Then again guys with high HP cars are running tires like the PSS and S-04 with success, so it might work for you. Hard to tell until you try. :icon17:

Dude IDKKKKKKKKKKK

$892 for 2 x 265 and 2 305 S0-4s.... I really cant even complain with that.

I really want to give it a go...atleast get these for streeting and make get 18" track wheels and tires next summer. Sweet lord these prices are nice. I think I will be okay...supposedly my Ultrac Sessentas are on par with PSS tires and they hold traction pretty well. I mean I still do 2nd gear rolling burnouts but its more like some slight wheel hop not actually laying down a sheet of rubber.

Im rambling. Anyways I may get these.

m4a1mustang 12-03-2013 01:59 PM

You could run a 275/35 up front if you want.

Also, I've read that your current tires are comparable to the PS2 (but still not quite as good), which the PSS blows out of the water. PS2 is an old tire, and most of the modern summers outperform it now, including the S-04.

You know what. You are def right...it was the PS2s. Uhg all of this tire talk is getting me all excited for spring. These are such a performance bargain.

m4a1mustang 12-03-2013 02:09 PM

Yea I am looking forward to spring, too. Though I am enjoying winter right now with my Alpin PA4s. The 245 square setup really helps with the balance of the car, and for a winter tire they have tremendous dry, cold weather grip.

MyKindaGuise 12-03-2013 02:22 PM

That is really what matters. Snow traction is great but the small percentage that it actually sticks to the ground is minimal. I need to get some new A/S's for the LGT of mine. CANNOT wait to take that car out in the snow. Never had an AWD vehicle until now so Im mildly in love with being in grip city 24/7.

m4a1mustang 12-03-2013 02:24 PM

Yeah that's why I always go with performance winters. Around here 95% of my winter driving is on dry but cold pavement. I want something that performs well there and can still get me through light-moderate snow/ice if the need arises. I have used the Dunlop Wintersport M3 and Pirelli SottoZero Serie II in the past with great results. So far so good for the Michelins... the true test will be when we get some snow to play around in.

MyKindaGuise 12-03-2013 02:42 PM

Im personally looking at these for the LGT

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....7H452&i1_Qty=4

Been getting some good reviews for a less pricey tire. Much better than the Yoko ENvigors(sp?)

Did you get the "Bridgestone performance football" or the $50 gift card? If you are getting the football, you have to bring it to a MAZOC meat! :icon17:

Holy crap... $800 for a set of 275/35/19 for the S-04 vs $1,280 for the PSS.

I've never been a huge fan of Bridgestone though. Tried the RE970's years back and they were loud, poor road feel and took a crapload of weight to balance properly. Who knows, things might have changed.

Just google s-04 vs pss. Car and driver has a nice test setup comparing the S-04 and 5 other tires. S-04 placed 2nd over the RS3s and and the AD08s. Ive been persuaded.

4r3s 12-04-2013 08:08 AM

The s-04's were what I had on my car last before the pss. I liked them, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you which where which if I had to do a blind testing of the two. Good tire in my opinion, especially for the price. When I bought the pss's there was only a $75 difference but it looks like the pss's price has caught up to the trend.

MyKindaGuise 12-04-2013 08:19 AM

Glad to hear someone has had both and cannot tell a difference really.

Eeeeenteresting. I mean almost a $500 difference is pretty significant, especially if the wet/dry grip are almost identical to the PSS. Might be enough to persuade me to buy the S-04 next year.

Keep in mind I'm no track guru or claim to be any type of tire expert by any means what so ever. All I'm saying is that the s-04's where good enough for me. If the price difference had been more pronounced like it is now and there wasn't such a hype around the pss's at the time I bought them, I would have been perfectly happy purchasing the s-04s again.

m4a1mustang 12-04-2013 08:50 AM

If they perform similarly I will be satisfied. Looking forward to testing them out in the Spring.
