I knew somehow you guys would blame it on me... |

Now I understand :-) And yes, if the lighter person pushed more, they would have beaten you potentially, assuming their skill was up to snuff. But they didn't. Does that mean weight doesn't matter, however? Nope. You are making the assumption that just because we have done HPDE that we are automatically excellent kart drivers? Lol. ****, my first run, my best lap was only 70 seconds. Second? 66.87. Third? 64.6. Final? 64.1. Next session would be in the 63's, I promise you. Your AVERAGE speed was a full 3 seconds faster than almost everyone your FIRST run. What I just proved is, in only 4 runs, I was able to consistently drop my times each time out (both average, and fastest lap). THAT is where my HPDE came in handy. This is about the same as us both hitting Shenandoah, with my experience against you fresh out for your first HPDE. Except you'd need to close the gap between you and myself for lap times and consistency within only 4 HPDE sessions. That is practically impossible and I'd never expect you to do it, nor would I say anything about it lol. So what Steve and I are saying is, you are barking up the wrong tree here, and for now that black flag will just have to haunt you :-P Sent from my Galaxy S3 |

A little derailment here, looking at our times... I would really love to see some footage of the drivers running sub 1 minute times. I want to see what lines they take lol.

Like you, my knowledge of race craft and basic race car physics is what helped me improve with each session. Just need more seat time... and must add lightness. |

Look Chris, I know how you feel. You had the skill. You had the weight. By all rights, you should have won, probably. I'm sure you are a little upset about that because you wanted to prove it, so here I am telling you: you did well. Very well, and you should be happy with your performance. You have nothing to prove to us: you are good at karting. If you got black flagged for a fluke, well...I guess that is racing. So for what it's worth, all that karting may prove beneficial whenever you HPDE. But don't expect to be a pro day one :-P Sent from my Galaxy S3 |

And next time don't worry about hitting Bobo. Just spin him out. :)

It's stupid, actually. If you spin, they black flag you, and you have to come into the pits to serve a penalty. IMO, the time lost by spinning out should be the penalty. Dana was pissed because when she spun, the guy gave her some (angry) lecture. She felt like they rubbed her the wrong way by treating her like a noob so she quit. She knew why she spun but the guy wouldn't quick yapping. I was upset about that because she would have done well if she stuck with it. Oh well... there's next time. |
i should look into nascar... im invaluable... i just am around people and they spin :icon17:

To offset my 205 pound girth, once I got comfortable with the kart capabilities I began left-foot braking into the corners. This allowed me to keep my revs up with my right foot planted onto the accelerator while shedding some speed. This is what allowed me to creep up on Cwiz on the semi-final race. :D

I'm not expecting to be a pro at an HDPE the first time out at all. Honestly I know I will be VERY hesitant/cautious (pussy) because its in MY car, my DD, my baby, etc etc. So I will be hesitant to push... Until my comfort grows, as you well know. :icon17: That's why I come to you with 50 questions all the time. |

I mean, I understand...spinning could cause OTHER wrecks, so you should never spin. But, it happens... Sent from my Galaxy S3 |

I was following bobo for the entire track trying to pass him. But he never looked back to see I was there, and I didn't want to spin him out by being too aggressive and ducking in when he cut into a turn. So after the front stretch, I tried to nose in, and when he did cut, the only think I could do to not T bone him was brake. As soon as I touched the pedal, rear end came out and I was facing Steve. :shakes head: I waited for all traffic to pass and then pulled back into the lane... Got the black flag at the other half of the track and yelled :wtf: at the guy. Pulled into the pits, was told nothing, went back out and proceeded to set my fastest lap of the day. I didn't get any lecture and I'm glad I didn't because I would have told him it's ******* stupid to black flag a car that didn't touch any other car, and didn't obstruct other racers before returning to the course. :shakes head: |
