No offense to those guys, but PTuning has put a lot of R&D into their kit. It seems more practical to me to just have them install and tune should you go with their kit.

InlinePro has more DIY friendly kits, though.

But he needs 2 years of schooling before that.

they come warrantied too. 6k though. Thats just the kit though )= no supporting mods. oil cooler, clutch/flywheel, gauges will all probably be needed. PM them here on the forum. Maybe they can hook you up

Sales@AAMComp 02-28-2013 11:14 AM

our main tech here at AAM has an s2k, putting down a little over 500whp on a stock motor lol

not too shabby for a 4 banger, that thing is quick

I think they are around $7400 installed (and tuned) from the last time I got a quote.

If you do turbo your S2k you're also going to want to upgrade the clutch and diff. Diff especially... it's incredibly weak and WILL break on you without an upgrade.

puddy modded diff is the way to go now.

wasn't an option back in my day, which got me my first exposure to the horrendous 370z differential

m4a1mustang 02-28-2013 11:19 AM

So yeah, to "do it right," you're probably around $10k give or take a grand.

Probably more for you since you'll need new wheels and tires. And fender work to accommodate the wheels and tires you're going to need with 450whp and 2750lbs.

Yeah, that's the way to go. Not cheap, regardless.

Oh I saw you try to keep up, don't think I missed that. I even tested it out. Sped up to see if you would too and you did. :stirthepot:

Because... we were accelerating to merge onto the highway? You kind of need to accelerate to highway speed to get on the highway.

Ron and I got up to ~55 and you kept going to 80+.

Did you just admit to traveling 90mph?

That's a misdemeanor.

Please turn in your weapons.

Nismo is ~3300 curb weight iirc. Am I absolutely positively going to need new wheels or can I get by with better/stickier tires?

No that was even before the highway. I only went up to 80....

I then proceeded to do ricer flyby on Steve and lit up my hazards when I passed him. :|

FI Z definitely needs stickier tires.

You can get by, but you just won't be able to put your foot in it as much as you would with more rubber.

I certainly wouldn't want a stock suspension NISMO with FI, though. If I was doing it I'd be on KW V3s and some meaty tires.

It was the feeder ramp crap, and it was wet, and you were stupid, and we were smart. :)

:rofl2:

dmhenderson 02-28-2013 11:27 AM

The nismo does have an upgraded suspension over the sport & base. It's stiff as hell. KW V3s would be an idea but been adamant about not dropping the car at all up until now.

Upgraded is debatable. :)

The spring rates are stiffer, sure, but the shocks are still crap.

b1adesofcha0s 02-28-2013 11:30 AM

FI'd Z's have trouble getting traction with RE-11's. You'll need some super sticky tires and probably wider too.

m4a1mustang 02-28-2013 11:30 AM

You don't necessarily need to lower the car much with coilovers, either. It's more about improved body control as a result of far superior damping.

So I could put KN V3s on the car without lowering it?

dmhenderson 02-28-2013 11:34 AM

I am learning things.
