They do have generic pictures of each type of cabin, both inside and out. Not a bad website, but they could include the floorplans...

I can wait until we get there to run to that store to pick up the meat. Either that, or just slice some off of Jay. :stirthepot:

Alright, I need to get this crap organized. I'm stressed the f*ck out.

1) To make things easier, I think the Sunday night dinner is just going to be something simple but delicious. Home made burgers, brats, whatever. It will taste great regardless and I don't have to stress on getting an accurate headcount of who all I need to feed that night (major props to Jon & Pat for doing this two years in a row). Going to try to coordinate with Jay on what deliciousness we can bring en mass and grill grill grill.

2) I will bring both 18" grills which will be enough to cook for all of us. I need people to pledge to bring charcoal. I know Aniceh pledged one bag. If we can get a couple others to pledge a bag we should be good.

3) Working on a dinner responsibility schedule. So far we have:

Sunday: Burgers/Dogs/Watev - Steve/Jay
Monday: Tilapia - Aniceh
Tuesday: OPEN
Wednesday: Meatloaf - Dana
Thursday: OPEN
Friday/Saturday: ZDayZ Banquet

Al, Chris, and Aniceh: I know you both offered to do dinner one night. I have three nights open. Can you each claim a night and let me know what you're planning so I can put it down on the list?

4) For lunch, we're going to be grilling standard lunch fares... frozen burger patties, hot dogs, whatever. We also have the Wilwood grill which I'm sure we'll grab lunch at a time or two.

5) Everyone should bring at least one citronella candle so we can have them going all week

6) As of right now the Cherohala Skyway cruise is scheduled for TUESDAY morning and the famous Clingman's Dome cruise/hike is scheduled for THURSDAY. BRING GOOD WALKING SHOES

I know there is more I need to iron out but I'm trying to have everything sorted by this Wednesday. Also trying to keep in mind that we don't have to bring EVERYTHING down with us food related, as we have access to grocery stores about a 30 minute drive out.

m4a1mustang 05-05-2013 08:51 PM

TUESDAY - Cherohala Skyway Loop

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-u...yannotated.jpg

Breakfast is going to be at 7AM in the lodge restaurant. We'll depart soon after. 141 mile loop that heads south on 129 and comes back on The Dragon.

m4a1mustang 05-05-2013 08:53 PM

THURSDAY - Little River Loop (Clingman's Dome)

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Q...tleriverrd.jpg

145 mile loop. We start with a run on 129 North up the Dragon. This one makes a stop at Clingman's Dome off 441 in the Great Smokey Mountains where we'll go on a nice hike, this time with an actual view (I HOPE).

MAKE SURE YOU BRING FOOD... energy bar, whatever. We leave after breakfast then go on a nice little hike so you'll want some energy.

m4a1mustang 05-05-2013 09:26 PM

For those that don't know... Clingman's Dome is a 6300' high observation deck with 100+ mile sightlines.

However last year we hiked to the top in a hailstorm...

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-O...ngmansdome.jpg

This year is all about redemption.

aniceh 05-05-2013 09:38 PM

I'm with you. I get stressed if I don't have a plan, even if that plan is to have no plan. :)

Easy Sunday night dinner sounds great. Everyone is going to be tired and still in the process of getting settled. You can't sing the praises of Jon and Pat enough. Setting up a group dinner the day of arrival is no small feat, and I'm sure they've done it with the good humor they always have.

I'm going to test-fit the Z tomorrow with everything I intend to bring. I may be able to bring two 20-lb bags of charcoal, since I don't have a passenger. I'll let you know how it looks tomorrow night.

I'll take Monday night. I'd like to cook some sort of fish, and while fresh is my preference, I may have to settle for frozen, given location. I can do tilapia loins, basmati rice and broccoli, if that's agreeable to enough of the group. I just need to know how many to buy for. I'll bring as much as I can and use local shopping options for the rest.

I'll be sure to pick up a couple citronella candles.

I plan on making a Costco run this week, and I can get a **** ton of paper plates, plastic flatware and napkins. I can also get a bunch of buns for burgers and brats, if needed. Just let me know.

Whatever you would like to make sounds good to me. I'll put you down for Monday night.

A solid head count for the group would be great. I think Al might be +2, and Daisuke might be hanging with us as well. I'll need to check in with him and also get an update from Al so we know how many to expect. I know starting around Wednesday is when we start to pick people up (Steve picks Deb up from the airport, Lou & Laura show up), and Thursday we get even more.

If you can bring some paper plates, flatware, napkins, buns, etc, that will be great. Don't go overboard as I think we have some to bring as well.

What about condiments? Want me to get some ketchup and mustard?

m4a1mustang 05-05-2013 10:01 PM

Save it for someone else to claim.

Keep in mind we do a grocery store stop about 30 miles from the resort on the way in, so we have a chance to pick up last minute items.

And if all goes according to plan we should have so many dogs, burgers, and other stuff that we can never truly "not have enough" food.

Hey, since this thread is about the caravan to ZDayZ, should you be going off-topic about what you are doing once you get there? :inoutroflpuke:

Back onto the "off topic" at hand... While I am on my way to arrive Wed morning, I can grab some condiments, plates, alcohol :yum: on my way in. Just post to this thread and I'll reply with what I can bring.

What time is the scheduled departure for the Saturday cruise/hike?

m4a1mustang 05-05-2013 10:14 PM

The cruise/hike is Thursday. Departure is "after breakfast," which should be around 8-8:30ish.

shadoquad 05-05-2013 10:15 PM

I got tuesday night

Also, other ad hoc cruises can happen whenever

m4a1mustang 05-05-2013 10:21 PM

Yes, the other days are open for random dragon runs, sightseeing, etc. I'm sure we'll take the newbs over to the Dam. We know what happens at the dam, don't we Al? :yum:

Oh, are you +2 on the caravan, Al?

I'll drive in my vette, mom and brother and doggies in a truck

m4a1mustang 05-05-2013 10:25 PM

10-4. Thanks!

aniceh 05-05-2013 10:34 PM

Hey, Shado, you and your crew eat fish?

shadoquad 05-05-2013 10:42 PM

Indeed :)

aniceh 05-05-2013 10:43 PM

K, thx.

XwChriswX 05-05-2013 10:45 PM

Will cookware be there, or is it bring your own?

m4a1mustang 05-05-2013 10:50 PM

I don't think they come with cookware.

XwChriswX 05-05-2013 10:56 PM

That may present a problem for my stuff. Since it's stovetop/oven cooking.

Ah, good to know. I'll plan on bringing my own. Chris, I can tell you what I plan to bring and you can let me know if I should bring anything else for you to use. An additional fry pan won't take up much space. :)

The problem is quantity and size. That's what she said...

The dish I'm thinking of is designed for 2 people as a main course. With this many people it would at best be a side dish as the "simple enlargement" formula of double all the portions works, but only for so long.

GM_Traitor3.5 05-06-2013 07:14 AM

Here's what I can bring in addition to providing dinner with Steve on Sunday night:

Extra citronella candle(s)
1-2 bags of charcoal
Extra hot dogs and buns
Condiments
1-2 cases of beer

Let's try to keep the first page updated with ALL the items folks want or can bring down so we can all help spread out the cost of food and other items across the group or whomever else wants to keep 660 as home base!

GM_Traitor3.5 05-06-2013 07:16 AM

Also, while I do have a four door, it doesn't hold as much gear as yall might think. I'll have a little bit of spare room, but I try to keep everything in the trunk so that once we start hitting the twisty sections close to Fontana, I don't have sh*t flying around my interior like the first year I went

So that being said, if you think you might need help getting stuff down there and you're leaving on Sunday, PM me on what you might not be able to haul down in the Z and I should be able to help out.

aniceh 05-06-2013 08:51 PM

Ok, I did a trial run of packing the Z and I was able to fit both 20-lb bags of charcoal so I can commit to bringing the 2nd bag if wanted/needed.

Sales@AAMComp 05-07-2013 04:03 PM

when does MAZOC plan on leaving (returning home) on the following sunday?

Sscottfitz 05-07-2013 04:18 PM

I'll defer to Mustang Steve, but usually we depart early Sunday morning, and cruiZe together to Ashville for B'fast at the Crackerbarrel - at that point the Marylanders usually head east on 40 and the Virginian's head north on I-26....

I usually run the dragon again on my way out, very early in the morning, without anyone else, cutting up through Knoxville.

:iagree:

I want to say we are normally at check out starting around 6AM. We hit the road as soon as everyone cruising out with us is finished checking out and loading up.
