Bottom line, a BCM rifle will hold its value better but you may have to work harder to sell it because you will need an audience that knows as much about quality AR's as you do, and DPMS, RRA, and Bushmaster make up the largest percentage of AR sales). Place to start with selling higher-quality components would be the Equipment Exchange at M4Carbine.net, for example, since that audience tends to be more tuned in to quality and reliability.

The other thing to keep in mind is that it's often harder to re-sell an assembled-from-parts rifle than it is a factory-made rifle. You could assemble a rifle from all-BCM parts and usually will still have a harder time selling it than the same thing bought as a complete rifle. Sometimes yo can do better selling the components piece-by-piece.
Thanks, Mac. Good to know.

I've got membership pending on M4Carbine.net and also lurk ARFcom; M4C is no-nonsense with tons of valuable information, ARFcom is OK too but there's definitely a lot of nonsense you have to sift through to get to good information.

Needless to say coupled with everything there and all of the help you've offered, I've learned a lot.

I came very close to ordering a PSA completed upper. Everything with them as far as specs goes checks out: cold hammer forged barrels made by FN, MPI/HPT properly staked BCG, M4 feed ramps, and upper/lower receiver shells made by Aero Precision. Pricing is great too at $499 for a M4 style upper with the FN barrel. The issue is these are new and they haven't been put to the test yet. I think they would be GTG but only time will tell.

If I went with a full PSA build there would always be some uncertainty, and after handling the BCM stuff yesterday I knew that was the way to go. Maybe for a future build I'll try some PSA if they prove themselves. Right now, I end up spending a couple hundred dollars more but have the peace of mind knowing I am buying some of the best.
