And I got this little Kahr CM9 for pocket duty. Next up on my list is an Aimpoint PRO and 3x magnifier for my AR.

Good news for our MD folk. I read that a judge ruled the "good and substantial cause" clause in the MD CCW permit application is unconstitutional and must be removed sometime next month. So as soon as that's removed you guys should be able to apply for and receive your permits without having to have some BS justification.

Me too.
In other news, the Nation's Gun Show is in town this weekend and I got a great deal on my first .45: A Springfield Armory 1911 Range Officer. This thing is a TACK DRIVER. Amazing shooter. I put 200 rounds through it this afternoon and will probably run another 200 through it tomorrow. I am going to make some adjustments to the sights to get it shooting perfectly.

I just picked up my first gun. It's a Springfield Armory XDs. Cannot wait to get some rounds through it.

Nice. Are you planning on carrying it?

Awesome. Looks like a good carry gun. I would recommend carrying a spare magazine just in case, but I'm sure you've thought about that already.

Is it just me or does the XD-S have a lot of similarities to the Glock & Sig Saur in its design?

Looks like the Marines are going back to my favorite, the M1911 Colt .45. It was announced yesterday the USMC will purchase up to 12,000 of them to replace the standard issue Baretta M9 which has been their standard sidearm since it replaced the M1911 in 1985.
It has been reported that most Marines didn't like the M9 either due to lack of stopping power and/or lack of accuracy (the .45 suffers from the latter beyond a certain distance). Marine Spec Ops already use the M1911. I personally never liked the Baretta M9. Of course you have trade offs, but in close quarters, I personally prefer the Colt. My opinions are based upon my time serving on U.S. Navy ships. where close quarters is reality. Large M-14s don't work in the tight confines of a ship (although great for overwatch). A 12 gauge shotgun and .45 is what I liked to carry when responding to intruder alerts back in the day. Here is a pic of what the Marine version will look like.

You responded to intruder alerts on ship? I never really thought of that as a possibility. Always assumed our ships were "safe" from unauthorized boarding.
BTW, I agree about the M9. I don't necessarily think its a bad pistol but there are better options. Even in the 9mm space. I thought it was MARSOC that put the order in for the 1911s for their own use. I didn't know it would be a complete replacement of the M9 (didn't we put a giant order in for new M9s recently anyways?)

The Glock, XD, and Smith & Wesson M&P line of pistols have a lot in common. I'm not uber familiar with the Sigs.

BTW, if you are looking to carry IWB, I recommend the Comp-Tac MTAC holster. Very nice. Sturdy and the most comfortable dedicated IWB holster I've used. I have two -- one for my G26 and one for my G19.
For OWB I really like the Kydex units like these At first I ordered a Raven Concealment Systems "Phantom" for my G17. Its nice, but production time is slow. I found this guy on GlockTalk who makes holsters that are just as nice (I have one for my G19) and a lot cheaper. --Made in the USA-- "Protector" Multi Mission Adaptable Weapon Systems - Glock Talk Classifieds He'll make one for whatever you want, so if he doesn't have an XD-S mold I'm sure he'll get one and make it. His turnaround time is really quick, too. I'm actually carrying my 19 in one right now.
