25 yards is great for practicing for home defense. I do agree it is nice to get out on some open land. The public outdoor ranges in my area have gotten very restrictive on how you can shoot. No rifles on the 25 yard range even if they are pistol calibers. No standing and shooting rifles or shotguns, must be from a rested position. All this is due to idiots at the range. :shakes head: Thankfully my dad is the member of a hunt club with a private range that goes out to 300 yards. Well, actually it is a dirt road out in the middle of no where. :icon17: Be aware the Tavor’s sight rail sits lower than on an AR-15 (with relationship to the stock). This is due to the charging handle on an AR-15. You might need a riser for your optic. Most guys (and gals ;) ) who are used to the AR-15/M16/M4 find when mounting optics that would be standard height on an AR-15 are too low for them on a Tavor. It is all about where you rest your face on the stock. For me I like having the stock higher up on my check so standard AR-15 height sights work perfectly for me. If you find you need your optics higher, the Bullpup Armory has some simple and cost effective solutions. Also if you find that the Tavor’s grips are a little too slick like I did; Talon Grips make grip tape panels for the pistol grip and foregrip. They make them in a rubber texture and a granulated texture (aka sandpaper style like on skateboards). I got the rubber texture. A little bit of a PITA to get them on but they made a huge difference. Also they are not a permanent change so you can take them off or replace them later. Talon Gun Grips Tavor Pistol Grip |
I'm a big fan of the talon grips. I have the rubber grip on my Kahr CM9.
I have the MI riser rail bookmarked in case the Aimpoint ends up being too low. |
What Mike said. He pretty much covered all the high points.

Lionheart Industries will be having their once a year Black Friday sale starting the 23rd of November (Monday). If you've been looking at a LH-9 or any of the ones with Novak Night Sights and cerakoted, this is the best time to purchase as they normally run $750.00 and will be on sale for as low as $399.00
Lionheart Industries - 9MM Firearms, Holsters, and Accessories Click the "Black Friday" link at the top of their homepage for the prices. Here is a really good overview/review of the history of this firearm and what it has become. |
I watched the entire video. Looks like a nice pistol.

The Beretta M9A3 is out now and its nice too. Having used one in the Navy its a very nice updated model of what was a decent sidearm. |
I'm pretty much set on handguns right now. :icon17:
I still haven't ordered my optic. Waiting around to see if any black Friday deals pop up. Hoping my Tavor is in by then too. |

Been thinking about getting a M9 for awhile. Mainly to have a gun that has mags compatible with its military counterpart. Was looking at the M9A2 but now that the M9A3 is out, it is attracting my attention. |

i have a 96 vertec for awhile. it was ok but i couldn't stand the action or the grip. i had a few FF/FFs in it and a few stovepipes. Didn't have many problems with the M9 while I was in the service. but again, the action sucked and the ergonomics of the safety were ****. And as much as i love the sight and feel of a 1911, I hate shooting them too. Just feel crappy. Rather have my XDm 45 any day. |

Still waiting for my Browe combat optic to come in. ordered that bitch on September 9th. Fuckers are slow. |

yeah man. heard after the fact that they are really slow. i think they just have production issues. i'm willing to wait until about march to get it. but if i don't have it by the first week of january i'll start throwing a **** fit to ensure i get it by March/April. we'll see. giving him the benefit of the doubt |
I ordered my Aimpoint PRO and a handful of Gen M3 windowed PMags today. Called my store and they say the Tavor should be in on Friday. IWI is having a 20% off Cyber Monday sale so I'm going to order the Tavor case and a few other things from them.

Yes, I can't wait. Though I'm beginning to regret ordering my Tavor without creamer.

:roflpuke2: Maybe you can change your order? I pretty sure your LGS can sell a black Tavor very easily. Here are some more recent photos of my Tavors and my Savage. Steve you might regret your decision more if you click those spoiler buttons. :stirthepot: Right after installing Manticore curved butt pad and Geisele Super Sabra Lightning Bow and Trigger Pack. My black Tavor got the 9mm conversion kit so I can use it at my local pistol range.

The Savage update: Nightforce Scope (NXS Compact 2.5-10x42, Mil-R reticle) and rings (had the scope left over from a different project), Badger Ordinance steel 20moa scope rail (The stock one was 0moa), rail section for bipod and adjustable Kydex check rest. Didn't get to shoot it before I left. :shakes head:

I'm just going to hold out hope that Dana ends up wanting one so we can get a 18" in FDE

Got everything today. Mounted my Aimpoint PRO. I like the PRO a lot and liked it on my AR, but I think I need to change the mount for the Tavor. The knob on the factory PRO mount is huge, and I can't put it as far forward as I would like without interfering with the charge handle. I will probably go for something like the AD-68H.

Now way you can swap the knob to the other side? |
Nah it's only designed to be mounted with the knob on the left side.
|
BTW totally want a FDE 18" now. Hopefully Dana likes shooting it and I can make the case for why we need a second Tavor.
|
That sucks. :ugh2: (the mount)
|
I got a feeling she will. The recoil is on par or less than an AR-15. Since it is a long stroke piston gun the recoil will feel different. The recoil with the 9mm conversion is laughable. I've shoot 22lr rifles with more kick. :icon17:

Nice purchase steve.

Also, in dry firing, the trigger seems okay. A little stiff but not as bad as I have heard. I need to actually shoot it before forming an opinion, though. :icon17: |
My new toy! H&K P39SK IN 9mm. This thing would be sweet in a 10mm but, eh, whatever. Still shoots very nicely.

yeah but logic took hold. i can't deny the benefit of a 9mm forever. and this fills the gap in the home defense line. so i'm good with it. now, if they made this in 45, then yes, i would have taken that one. but this will work just fine. |

Nice buy though, welcome to the HK family! There is a reason I have 6 HKs. I like the P30's in general but HK messed up with that slide mounted decocker. I prefer the decocker to be apart of the safety like all the rest of HK pistol family. Also since the decocker is on the slide you can't swap out the triggers like you can with the USP, P200, HK45, and the non-slide mounted decocker variants of the P30. That is one of the reasons I want a P30L V1. The other reason is that the V1 has the LEM light trigger like what I have installed in my HK45s |

I didn't want another XDwhatever. I already had one. Just wouldn't be on par with what i already have in the M. And I've always wanted an HK. This one was tucked back in a darker corner of the case and you really couldn't make out what it was. Kind of like an omen. I love the compactness of it and the action on the slide. The decocker was a big plus for me. I don't give a **** that it is on the back of the slide. From your perspective they screwed up but I think it was a smart decision. And I like that it doesn't have a safety lever. That makes it quicker for me to operate and no mishandling possibilities between the slide release and safety like i've experienced on other pistols. These polymers were designed for speed and efficiency. Glad they stuck to that concept. |
For compactness I'm more than fine with my Kahr CM9 and Glock 26!

Fair enough. To each their own. |
This video is entertaining. I can't imagine anyone doing the things done to this particular VP9, but I always enjoy when they do torture tests on any firearm just to see what it can and can not withstand.
