Often a local gun shop will sell the gun somewhere around the same price you can find it online. If you find it online, and buy it that way, you usually have to pay a local gun store for the transfer fee anyway and that will run anywhere from $25 to as much as $75, often eliminating any price advantage, even if you exclude the sales tax. The only caveat I'd offer is that some of the most ridiculous firearms advice I've heard has come out of local gun shops, so be careful about doing your research on individual guns and where you get your information.

I've pretty much decided on a Sig P226 Elite Stainless .40.
Now, where do I get it?

If you're law enforcement, I'd say Lawman Supply in Clinton, MD. Best prices I've seen around here, by far.

Bill, go to Virginia Arms in Manassas. They are a great shop and all the guys there know their sh*t!.

They usually have competitive pricing when you factor in the transfer fees. I bought my Glock 26, my girlfriend's Ruger LC9, and my BCM AR-15 lower from them.

The fact that they sell BCM suggest that such a shop is a cut above your usual gun store.

They've got a great reputation locally. I know most of the salespeople are involved in competition, some of them on a national level. They are all extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I've found them to be quite honest. They were very adamant about getting me the best deal possible when I was putting together my BCM AR that they advised me not to buy the upper from them since BCM direct and some other online retailers could beat their pricing. But for the lower I got the best deal buying from them once you factor in the transfer fee.

I think they carry every BCM part to be honest. They had 10-15 of the BCGs hanging on the rack last time I was there along with all of the charge handles and other little bits.

Unless I can get a clearly better deal online I think they are my gun shop for life.
