Thats an excellent deal...damn, thanks jon.

Anyone interested in signing up for a Chris Costa carbine or handgun manipulation course next summer? I'm thinking about taking a few days for vacation and doing this. Learn a lot and get to enjoy the outdoors too. And, it ain't really all that expensive. It'd be cool to get one or two other guys from here out there at the same time. Kill like, six birds with one stone.

Any idea on time and place?

Wouldn't mind attending any of his classes but my schedule is very limiting.
For me, the class must be with in reasonable driving distance.
Not taking any my guns through an airport.

Oh. Definitely taking guns through the airport. lol. And ammo. Like, 2,000+ rounds worth.:rofl2:

It is also in Wyoming. This would be one of his more personal one-on-one courses. Not entirely, but the class sizes are so damn small they really kind of are. I think this is the place where they filmed the Art of the Carbine videos. Anyhow, yeah, not local at all. All of the other courses I found were in freakin' Vegas and they were not during any dates that I would call convenient. And I'm not going to Vegas to shoot.

There are other company's to consider like Magpul Dynamics and Haley Strategic Partners (Travis Haley's company).
I took a quick look at Haley Strategic's schedule.
They don't have 2014 up yet but based off their 2013 calender they're more on this side of the country (NC,LA,TN).

Good idear! I forgot about Haley. Magpul was one of my original intentions but I wanted to ensure I actually got Chris or Haley. Not one of the random instructors. I'll check out haleys stuff. Hopefully something will come up.

Would recommend a Vickers class if you can.

Haley was just in Maryland not too long ago running a training course for Engage Armament. A couple of my buddies are sponsored by Engage, but they opted not to attend.

I've seen Haley and Ron Avery partner for pistol. Ron Avery knows what he's talking about (he's probably one of - if not THE best pistol instructor out there), but he varies his curriculum year to year, which can be frustrating if you attend his class more than once.

Don't forget... The Nation's Gun Show is happening this weekend (Fri - Sun) in Chantilly.

MightyBobo 12-28-2013 11:50 PM

Zero-ed in the AR today, with my BCG and Vortex. Feels good to have her back in action, and the sight zero-ed in no time. What a great, budget red-dot. I couldnt be happier with my purchase. The magnifier is pretty clutch, too.

eastwest2300 12-29-2013 09:01 PM

Yeah I like my Vortex too.

If I've learned anything from The Walking Dead, it's that you don't need no stinkin' optics.

I love the flat-top and the floating barrel. Not a fan of the over complicated muzzle break, but it does look nice.

I like the display mount too!

Seeing your build makes me more excited about my build.
I'm away on business and the last part should arrive just before I get back! :excited:
My build is a 300 BLK side charger.
Will definitely post pics once it is done!

Oh, and for those who are wondering, my rifle will pass the JDAM test. http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...es/2thumbs.gif

thanks!

It was a dream build for me. I bought a lower, while I was afraid they might ban them. Then put everything on it I could dream of. From the Wilson tactical trigger to the spikes upper and completely sexy handguard! I'm really happy with how it came out. :)

I enjoyed the process too. My builder was local. I think I may work with him on a couple more things in the future. I'd like to do an AR-10 sniper rifle and something carry

Have you shot it yet?
If you have, how do you like the Wilson Combat trigger and which version did you get?
Putting the standard 4# single stage version on mine.

Suppressors and tax stamps times

Just got off the phone with the ATF. Thought I'd post this up just in case anyone had questions about current wait times.

22 August 2013 - Purchase date
18 October 2013 - Sent to examiner for approval
XX July 2014 - Expected Approval

So as you can see the approval dates are rounding out to about a year. If you plan on purchasing and want it before summer '15, you better do it now.
