I'm waiting for the price to drop some more still. the market has to be flooded with ARs now that everyone that "needed" one got one in the scare and the manufacturers have caught up to demand.

Well, you do have until 1 October, but as that date nears, it will get harder and harder to find one available. The ones I posted up at $999.99 are gone. After 1 October you'll only be able to purchase a HBAR which for some reason isn't among those banned. You could just say screw it and move up to an AR-10 which won't be banned in MD.

As far as ammo goes, its starting to come back down and availability online is there. I picked up a thousand rounds of Tulammo 7.62x39 to use in my M10 762. Use http://www.gunbot.net and set it up for alerts. Cabelas is a good place to keep up with.

Did you guys see palmetto state armory has complete ar-15s WITH aimpoints for 999 this weekend only? those optics are around 400+, leaving the rifle itself around 600. Not too shabby if you ask me.

I like to build my own rifles (better parts, cheaper in the long run), and even I would have a little trouble (these days) with making an AR for 600. If I didn't have more AR-15s than I know what to do with, I'd be all over this deal.

I had a chance to play with a Tavor. The platform has a lot of potential. I did not like the trigger though (I own a Steyr AUG clone and I am very familiar with bullpup triggers). I've seen them polish up the sears, but you're limited in how much improvement can be made on the stock trigger pack. I'd like to see Timney or Geisselle come out with a match grade trigger. I understand the platform is very recent to the market and it's a little early to be asking for match grade triggers just yet.

As for wait times from MSP, do a little research and you'll find FFL's in the area are releasing firearms after 8, 14, and 30 days (depending on which ffl you go to).

What I'm really curious about is if after October 1st, can you buy an AR as a pistol (for those not savvy, an AR pistol is any barrel length ar-15 [to include barrels shorter than 16"] but it's missing the stock so it "can't" be shoulder fired [AR pistols are also not banned by SB281]), submit your form 1 to the ATF and after it returns, make it an SBR. I know some people say that MSP could designate that "manufacture" of a rifle after SB281 goes into effect, but it could be a tricky (and kinda expensive) loophole.

Yeah, I jumped on that very same PSA deal when it was first offered last month. Can't beat it really. You are getting an AR-15 for about $599.00

As for the Tavor trigger, there is a simple mod that MAC has already provided in a write up and also a video. Its ridiculously easy. Just remove the trigger return spring which takes a total of about 5 minutes if that much and the problem is resolved. Here is the write up and video link: 5 Minute Tavor Trigger Job | The Bang Switch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dizuRNL0HIs

Also, IWI has indicated on their FB page that several companies are currently working on trigger mods for those who want a tack driver.

As far as the AR pistol, I believe you are correct that they are not banned after 1 October. I'm not sure as to correct answer for what you are asking about for converting though. I'd recommend heading over to Maryland Shooters and asking that there. I'm pretty sure if the answer isn't already in one of the many threads on SB281, it will be quickly answered.

Knocked out some more rounds in my 45 this weekend, and I finally fired my shotgun. I am in LOVE with that thing, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase...

Just ordered my Fulton Armory M14 semi receiver. Should fill out paperwork on it early next week.

If you want a Fulton Armory M14 you should call them. They are putting MD people to the front of the line on M14s. I have long lusted after one but never pulled the trigger on one...

Unfortunately you can't get the peerless NM rushed and I wanted a rear lugged receiver so I will get the rifle built after I own the receiver. Their build time on the peerless is 8 months...

I need to load some more .45 as we have been shooting up lots of it with the Kriss. Down to only 500 or so..

I finally broke down and ordered a 1000 euro pellet for my XDM... Need more trigger time on that gun..

ZCarMan 07-30-2013 06:16 PM

Congrats Kirk on the M14. My spending is done though on new firearms I think as I've run through some cashola in prep for doomsday. I said that though before I picked up the M10 too! Now that ammo is starting to become available and prices are coming down as well its a bit of relief. I might have to go pick up a cheap Mosin just for grins.

I just got back from my FFL. He told me MSP contacted him last night to let him know that any regulated firearms that aren't fully transferred to the buyer will not be grandfathered in as of 10/1. Basically if it isn't in your hands before Oct. 1, the new rules apply despite you submitting any paperwork prior to Oct 1.

Good news is, Bass Pro Shops in Arundel Mills is now releasing after 8 days, as are many other FFL's.

Just paid for my SureFire 7.62 suppressor for my .300 Blackout. Just gotta wait for that damn tax stamp to come back and I can take my new friend home. :) I guess there is some serious wait times for a lot of these items and backorders are 8-10 months already. He just happened to have one specifically for the .300 BLK in stock and I got to see it and I was like, yeah, I want that. Here's my money. lol!

Here's the link if anyone is interested. http://www.surefire.com/socom762-mini.html

Crux 08-22-2013 08:30 PM

I want a 300 blk sbr worse than anything. I know people have had issues running certain barrel/muzzle brake/ suppressor combinations, causing baffle strikes; and on a suppressor that can't be opened/cleaned/warrantied for such instances, it could be a seriously costly and dangerous mistake. There's so much homework I gotta do before I lay down that kinda cash.

just buy that damn sh1t... hahaha:bowrofl:

There's always a risk and it goes without saying but you gotta pay to play. $1,400 isn't easy to just throw down but if ya want it? yeahhhh... Oh. Don't forget the $200 tax stamp plus the quick disconnect brake at a low low price of $149.

eastwest2300 08-23-2013 08:24 AM

pricey..pricey
