I bought my Glock 26 from Engage Armament in Kensington, which is close to my house, and I thought I was getting a good deal, until I went down to Lawman, and saw it much much cheaper, I was kinda pissed, but you live and learn.

I've bought pistols under Glock's "Blue Label" program. Discounts up to $100 plus a couple of extra magazines. Active military and LEO only. That discount is in addition to whatever the dealer is willing to apply, but many dealers will forgo their usual in-house discount if the Blue Label discount direct from Glock is applied. Kinda slimey, but they really make out on those deals. You pretty much have to sell firearms for no more than 10% over cost to be competitive these days and this deal can get them around that.

This explains why there was such a price difference between the 2 shops that I had been to.. Thanks Mac, again very good information.

Is that the Nations Gun Show at the Expo Center? If so, I'll be there. I'm headed down with a friend to see if he can sell a few of his AR-15's and I'd like to pick up some more ammo without paying shipping.

Speaking of ammo, if anyone shoots .40, there is a good deal at SGA Ammo.

Howdy Folks,

I'm building a new Carbine (16") Upper for CQB, and wanted feedback on barrels.

First off I don't like the look of the government profile barrels, so that's out.
Just a straight black 16" carbine length barrel (with M4 ramps, & .750 diameter), around the $200 region.

Also MUST be 5.56mm or Wylde chamber.. no ghey .223 ;)

I've already got a very highend 18" SPR and spent way toooo much on that LOL,
so this is a failry basic carbine.

Been looking at the BCM 16" Lightweight barrel:
BCM 16" LIGHT WEIGHT Barrel, Stripped

Other suggestions..??

BCM is good stuff.

If you are on a budget, look at some of Palmetto State Armory's stuff. They have the specs and reviews are starting to trickle in and they've all been good. I might build a PSA at some point...

BCM is excellent, either the lightweight or the BFH. I've used both in 11.5 SBR builds and have no reason to be disappointed. I haven't used Centurion yet, but I think my next build, if there is one, will use a Centurion barrel. They are VERY highly thought of, and also use the thicker chrome lining (M249 barrel specs) that Noveske has made popular. And of course, there is always Noveske...their barrel reputation is legendary. Another reasonable choice would be Daniel Defense. For high round-count battle weapons, I like the concept of chrome lining, and the double-thickness chrome lining of the Noveske or Centurion steel barrel is even more attractive to me.

If you're looking at a true CQB-home defense type weapon, consider a shorter barrel. That would entail some ATF paperwork and about a 4 month wait, but in tight quarters an 11.5 SBR or a Mk18 would be a really good choice. Yet one other option that might be suitable would be a 14.5 inch barrel with a pinned flash hider to keep it 16-inch legal and avoid NFA registration. My 11.5's both have BattleComp 1.0's and I've been very pleased with the (relatively) small increase in flash and blast indoors compared to other compensators.

Good places to shop for the DD, BCM, or Noveske barrels would be Rainier Arms or G&R Tactical.
