I'm just going to hold out hope that Dana ends up wanting one so we can get a 18" in FDE

Got everything today. Mounted my Aimpoint PRO. I like the PRO a lot and liked it on my AR, but I think I need to change the mount for the Tavor. The knob on the factory PRO mount is huge, and I can't put it as far forward as I would like without interfering with the charge handle. I will probably go for something like the AD-68H.

Now way you can swap the knob to the other side?

m4a1mustang 11-28-2015 09:19 PM

Nah it's only designed to be mounted with the knob on the left side.

BTW totally want a FDE 18" now. Hopefully Dana likes shooting it and I can make the case for why we need a second Tavor.

That sucks. :ugh2: (the mount)

I got a feeling she will. The recoil is on par or less than an AR-15. Since it is a long stroke piston gun the recoil will feel different. The recoil with the 9mm conversion is laughable. I've shoot 22lr rifles with more kick. :icon17:

Yeah it's alright, though. I'm just going to put it on the Christmas list.

The only thing I don't like about it so far is the weight... it's a lot heavier than an AR. Even though the majority of that weight is to the rear, and it balances very well, it just feels like it's 1-2lbs too heavy for the size. Not too bad, though. Crazy that the overall length of this thing is pretty much on par with a 10.5" AR with the stock fully collapsed.

Also, in dry firing, the trigger seems okay. A little stiff but not as bad as I have heard. I need to actually shoot it before forming an opinion, though. :icon17:

My new toy! H&K P39SK IN 9mm. This thing would be sweet in a 10mm but, eh, whatever. Still shoots very nicely.

yeah but logic took hold. i can't deny the benefit of a 9mm forever. and this fills the gap in the home defense line. so i'm good with it. now, if they made this in 45, then yes, i would have taken that one. but this will work just fine.

Could have gotten an XDs in 45.
Nice buy though, welcome to the HK family!
There is a reason I have 6 HKs.
I like the P30's in general but HK messed up with that slide mounted decocker. I prefer the decocker to be apart of the safety like all the rest of HK pistol family. Also since the decocker is on the slide you can't swap out the triggers like you can with the USP, P200, HK45, and the non-slide mounted decocker variants of the P30. That is one of the reasons I want a P30L V1. The other reason is that the V1 has the LEM light trigger like what I have installed in my HK45s
