For your awareness, Maryland legislators have introduced in the state of Maryland Senate Bill 281 "Firearm Safety Act of 2013" and House Bill 294. SB 281 has been referred to the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and will be heard on February 6 in Annapolis.

Some of the restrictions contained in SB 281:

Assault Weapons Banned

SEMI AUTOMATIC HANDGUNS:

- Assault Pistols (no grandfathering if purchased after 1994)
- Fixed magazine > 10 rounds, BANNED
- Barrel Shrouds, BANNED
- Threaded Barrels, BANNED
- Second hand-grip, BANNED
- Magazines inserted outside of the pistol grip, BANNED

SHOTGUNS:

- Any shotgun currently regulated, BANNED
- Revolver-style shotgun, BANNED
- Semi-Auto Shotguns BANNED if:
- Telescoping OR Folding stock
AND
- Pistol grip

SEMI-AUTOMATIC CENTERFIRE RIFLES:

- Flash hiders (suppressors), BANNED

10 ROUND MAGAZINE LIMIT: All detachable magazines with a round count of > 10 rounds will become illegal to purchase or transfer into the State of Maryland.

- Existing owners may keep their weapons, but must register them or face up to 3 years in prison and/or a $5,000.00 fine
- No person under the age of 21 may own a banned weapon
- If you can't own a banned weapon, you may not own ammunition for that weapon either
- Existing owners will NOT be able to sell a banned weapon in Maryland

CARRY PERMITS:
- No change has been made to the Good and Substantial clause of the law, which is the current law that makes it nearly impossible to obtain a carry permit
- In addition to that, a new 16 hour handgun training course must be completed as well

Good stuff...

Lots of bad things in the pipeline for MD gun owners. You guys need to contact your elected officials to let them know where you stand on these proposed laws. Good luck.

I switched to a Magpul Vertical forward grip from the angled. Added a red dot and UTG light along with the Magpul grip storage for two more batteries for the light.

Hey everybody, I don't post very much, but I remembered this thread and being a big gun guy myself (an instructor for a few years now) this is probably the worst piece of legislation to come down the pipe in years.

These people crafting legislation are smart. In addition to what Zcarman posted, the mere TRANSPORT of ANY (regulated or otherwise) firearm is ILLEGAL. Whether it be within, into, through - - - - illegal.

Once you're convicted of a crime, you cannot own a firearm and they will be confiscated.

This bill can be stopped, but its going to take more than emails. There is a hearing on February 6th at noon in Annapolis where anyone will be able to testify against this bill. I urge everyone to be there.

Our forefathers fought for years against the greatest military force of the time so that one day you and I could live in freedom, and right now that freedom is in jeopardy.

I've got a G27 myself, and I like it, but it's too small for my hand.
I have to use the small magazine extender so I can wrap my hand around it (leave it alone guys!!), which would be banned!!
MD owners - Good Luck!!!

I'm going broke going through 100 rounds of .40's twice a month.
Needed a fun cheap plinker for practice.
Now I just need to find some ammo for it :icon14:
