MAZOC Zs and BBQ 9 July
 

For the MAZOC group, we have been discussing this for a while now so I'm ready to get the planning started.

Park Entry Fee: 5$ per person if you have MD tags, otherwise 6$ per person

Pat and I will be bringing hamburgers/hotdogs and the grill. Anyone else that is planning to attend I'd like to ask each of you to sign up to bring one of the following by placing your name next to one of the items listed below, or if you have something else in mind just add it to the list and place your name next to it:

Jon, can you specify "steamed blue crabs"? I wouldn't want this group getting the wrong idea. :D

Al, how could I have overlooked that small yet important piece of info? Fixed!

New guy here. Definitely up for a meet. Haven't been back that way for awhile. Grew up in Pasadena. Can you put me down for hotdog and hamburger buns and will bring the sliced cheese also. Give me an idea on a bun count (that doesn't sound right :eek:).

Also, we have weekly coffee meets on Saturday mornings at 10am. They alternate between Target in Columbia, MD and Starbucks in Fairfax, VA. This weekend is Columbia.

Dana and I will be there with the potato salad, chips, and bottled water!

Greg, Welcome! I used to live in Stafford until a year ago when I moved to Maryland. Keep an eye on this thread and as we get closer, we'll have a better idea of the number of buns, etc. that we'll need.

Not sure of my schedule that far out have to check with the wife but we might be able to come. Will bring something along if we can make it. Will update later with what.

Crabs are pretty expensive, how about we bring you some money to help share the cost?

I plan on coming, I'll bring some buns too just in case the new guy is a no show. Would suck to have so much meat and no buns to put them in :p

If it helps my wife works at a local crab restaurant. Some pretty good crabs for the price and size.

Yeah, no problem. If we can, I'd like a head count soon, so I know how many to order.

Al, when is the latest you can place an order? I'll make that the cutoff. People can still come but they miss out on any crab.

And in this case that's a bad thing!

I can probably place the order within a week of the event, so let's shoot for maybe the preceding Wednesday? I mean, if we have 5 ppl, I'll just get a couple dozen. If we have 10-15 ppl, maybe a bushel.

I'm sure not everyone's going to eat crabs, since some folks don't care for them. Whatever is left over, I can always take it home with me. I live in a family of voracious crabby-vores. :tup:

I should be in the country and would love to get a hold of some fat Jumbo No1 Jimmys...

Also put me down for the Johnsonville Brats. Just need to know if people want the spicy or not...

Oh and by the way. Did some checking and a bushel of crabs is running around $200 for GOOD crabs.

Here are the feeding recommendations:

Recommended serving quantities are as follows: 1/2 bushels will feed 5 people and bushels will feed 10 people on the average. Warning: Some people can't help themselves and tend to make gluttons out of themselves. So if some of your guest fall into that category you may not want to consider "on the average."

This sounds like fun, but right now, too soon to know if I'll be able to attend.

Megan just informed me that she wants to go, so there's another +1. She doesn't eat seafood, but will eat crabs. Weird.

That is weird. Should be nice meeting you guys there. Definitely try to come through eastwest, this is the perfect chance to finally meet you in person :tup:

i won't eat cooked fish other than Seared Tuna Steaks and Fish and Chips myself, but Sushi of all types is no problem. So I am not finding that too weird.

My wife and I will attend :-) I don't eat crabs..ok maybe one but she loves them if they are the jumbo's she can eat 2 maybe 3.

Have no kitchen ATM...lol it is taking for ever..I am just going to get some stuff from Seaside where my wife works.

On a side note does the MAZOC have a site or membership of some type? Also is it affiliated with Maryland ' Z Club which is affiliated with ZCCA?

Blade Im gonna bust my *ss to come to this event. They got me on midnights now. Which sucks sucks sucks! But that frees up most of my days.
