They can get you for Maryland in any state (apparently). ;-) I was good though.

I didn't know the dates either, but the lodge did. One of the few things I remember from last year though is that Zdayz.inc and the MO Z club came to an agreement that Zdayz would be the weekend before memorial day and Branson would be after. In the past, they coincided sometimes.

When I was in the Navy and stationed in Cali in 1993, I was going from LA to Tahoe, I got pulled over in Mojave for tint. I had Florida plates. The cop said even if I was passing through, he could ticket me, and he did. I had to strip the tint, have a cop sign me off, and then get it reinstalled.

I was in VXE-6 at Pt. Mugu, then the Weapons Test Squadron there. 92-97. When I got married, I moved in with my wife who lived in Topanga Canyon, so I got to all those cool canyon roads quite often.

I was attached to VX-5 (The Vampires) at China Lake in the Mojave. They combined VX-5 and VX-4 from Mugu and they are now VX-9 at China Lake. We did all the USN/USMC attack operational test and evaluation. If any Navy/Marine aircraft had an "A" in it such as A-6E, FA/-18, AH-1J/W we had them. Loved that tour!

Right before they merged with VX-4 to become VX-9. I flew the metroliner back and forth between Mugu and China Lake while I was at Weapons Test Squadron (formerly NAWC)

I seem to recall that when I was there VX-5 had a little cessna 172 that the squadron flew back and forth between Mugu. Sadly, they lost two Aviators when the 172 went down on a shuttle run. We also lost some folks when a Mitsubishi MU-2 went down on approach to Edwards just short of the runway. I remember one blue shirt PO1 survived and one other aircrew. Always a reminder of just how dangerous it is just doing daily routine ops.

The best thing that I ever got to do when I was in they Navy (and there was alot) was when I submitted a chit to request an orientation flight in an AH-1J Cobra. About a month later when I had all but forgotten about it, the Marine Captain walks in and says, "Hey, you're on the flight schedule, go get suited up". I about sh*t and ran to get my fitting for helmet. Later that day I got to sit up front in the Cobra and that was the best two hour hop I ever had in my life. Flying over to Lake Isabella and then up the river canyon and then up to the top of the Sieera Nevadas then down to the Panamint Valley and home. Man I miss those days!
