It's funny because I pride myself on having such a great sense of direction (I know every route in the US and Canada), but I had a major brain fart. Even after seeing everyone int he damn cruise take the 495N exit, I decide to go S. LOL. :icon18:

Its okay Steve, just tell everybody that you drive in your own lane. :bowrofl:

m4a1mustang 05-17-2010 06:36 PM

Jon -- are you going to have the Z back by Thursday morning?

ZCarMan 05-17-2010 06:39 PM

Oh yes indeed I will. I should have it tomorrow afternoon. I just wanted them to make absolutely sure I'm good before I run it down to ZDayZ.

m4a1mustang 05-17-2010 06:40 PM

Good deal. Did they figure out what was going on with it?

ZCarMan 05-17-2010 06:42 PM

Mike said they made some adjustments but didn't elaborate as I was communicating via email all day. I was in and out of meetings so at the end of the day Mike asked if they could keep it till tomorrow and make sure I'm 100pct ready when I pick it up. I'll get the details when I pick her up.

m4a1mustang 05-17-2010 06:44 PM

Word.

So... what all should we bring? My guess is we're going to be partying it up pretty good so I figure I should probably pick up a case or two? But what in the way of food/snacks? I have no clue wtf to bring other than my clothes, camera gear, that kind of stuff.

ZCarMan 05-17-2010 06:52 PM

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking. Usual snack foods that you like to have with beer. Asperin for the next morning. I'm also bringing bug spray! Extra batteries for the camera. I would think the resort has got to have some type of store there or nearby where we can get supplies as necessary. But anything you can't live without, you should plan on bringing. I read on trip advisor that the bar at the resort serves a shot called "Dragons Breath"...hmmmm..interesting.

Word I'll have to run to the grocery store tomorrow tonight. I'm not a big drinker but I'll pick up something.

m4a1mustang 05-17-2010 09:42 PM

OK, so it seems like the film DOES leave behind a little bit of residue (nothing like painter's tape does) so I think I'm not going to go crazy with it. I am going to be careful putting it on the bumper and leading edge of the hood to protect against even more rock chips (my hood and front bumper look pretty bad :() but I'm not going to wrap the whole car (sorry lance).

The funny thing is I probably won't rewrap the car before the drive back up. I'll be too tired. haha

FuszNissan 05-17-2010 10:35 PM

Just get a damn clear bra

Does the residue wash off easily? Does painters tape even leave more residue? I don't want to create a worse problem trying to solve a problem.

Sscottfitz 05-18-2010 05:09 AM

ACTUALLY, if you stand in front of the car -- about 20~30 feet (upwind) -- and spray high grade unicorn blood in front of the car, it will create a protective barrier around the Z that lasts for 5 days straight........;)

zZSportZz 05-18-2010 02:39 PM

Not a big fan of the travel film crap and black duct tape. I think I might just go naked and remove bugs each stop or blue painters tape. Nit liking the film. Especially nervous with a really hot hood from engine heat. It does leave a residue.

I think I will at least run it on the front bumper. Painters tape is OK but leaves residue, too.

m4a1mustang 05-18-2010 02:50 PM

You know what, though... painters tape with color-matched duct tape over it might not look bad. :)

zZSportZz 05-18-2010 03:19 PM

I put a small spot of the film on my bumper and left it over night. I had to use a cleaner wax on the area to remove the discoloration. Maybe black is more sensitive? Then again, I might have to do the same thing with the painters tape.

zZSportZz 05-18-2010 03:34 PM

Reading up on some forums...guess its hit or miss on the painters tape. Most people say to make sure to use the blue painters tape with the orange "delicate" label on it for delicate surfaces. Some people have gotten residue that they had to polish off (not sure what version they used). I have a feeling that using this film, in the HOT sun, on a HOT car...there would be some massive residue cleanup.

m4a1mustang 05-18-2010 06:34 PM

So my red racer tape showed up and it's a good match for the car. I am going to try to find some of that orange-label painter's tape and see how that works as a base layer. :)

There was a sh1t ton of it here at walmart.

m4a1mustang 05-18-2010 07:59 PM

wow... so I am really annoyed that I spent so much money trying to protect the damn car.

I guess it's not all a loss... I will end up using it int he future for the track... and if I paint any rooms in my house... or if I need some saran wrap for anything... haha.

Yeah -- the film leaves a residue that will only come off with a cleaner.

The painter's tape... both regular AND delicate, also end up leaving film and it's just such a pain in the ***.

ALSO, my hood and bumper are already so far gone, I don't even know why I bothered. I'm NOT putting anything on the car for the drive down. **** it. I'll wash it at one of the wash stations if I have to.

I'm bringing a "bug sponge" in my "mini-cleaning kit"

OBTW, check your e-mail when you get a chance, sent you some "CruiZ Guidelines for you (and the group) to take a gander at -- some are probably not applicable to us, but some of the info seemed useful -- anyway, just fyi.....figured the delete key is cheap.....!

Hope we don't get TOO much rain, just spent the last two days driving my Truck thru some serious downpours between here and NJ......

Just replied to the group! That's some good stuff, Steve! Thanks again.

I hear ya about the rain! Our run down should be pretty nice, but we may very well be in for a rainy weekend. Be sure to pack ponchos!!!

Also, I'm not much of a drinker so I only bought one case of Blue Moon and a case of Sam Adams Summer Ale... no way I will drink all of that.

zZSportZz 05-18-2010 08:29 PM

You know what, I think I've come to the same damn conclusion. Went and removed my test tape...******* residue. At least I only bought one roll. Not sure WTF I'll use the film for. I'm convinced it's the shitty ******* Nissan paint ******* with us.

I'm so annoyed. The film was $30, I stupidly bought two rolls of red duct tape ($25 shipped), then got two rolls of delicate painter's tape ($20). That's one and a half tanks of gas, f'ckn A man! :shakes head:

If I had the cash I'd be getting my front bumper and hood resprayed and then I'd get a clear bra installed!

I got your email Scott, thanks! Good stuff! "other Scott" you can lead the entire way if you want. I've been down there but not to Fontana Village. We can figure that out though on the way. I don't mind leading as I've been real close to Fontana Village, LOL!

You should lead us in since you're more familiar with the area than I!!!

tooohip 05-19-2010 08:34 AM

Roger that, over!

Sscottfitz 05-19-2010 09:20 AM

Does anyone need an extra GPS? I've got a Garmin I use in my truck if anyone needs an extra... It has a "suction cup" windshield mount. Just let me know....

m4a1mustang 05-19-2010 09:38 AM

Steve -- I'll take it!

I lent my Garmin to a friend and was just going to use my phone, but a stand alone navi with windshield mount would be best.

I'll bring it with me in the morning -- I'll program in Fontana Village tonight, I've got to do that to the Z's Navi as well......

m4a1mustang 05-19-2010 09:48 AM

Thanks!

Also, are we good on two ways?

I have myself and Rick covered... I know you and lance have a few to pass around as well.

I think so, I'm bringing 4 ea. -- I know Jon said he needed one, Lance has one, I've not heard from our 7th person Spartan1771 -- either way, I think we've got plenty.

tooohip 05-19-2010 12:00 PM

Sounds like we are good with radios. Someone can use one of mine.

zZSportZz 05-19-2010 01:08 PM

Detailing break!! Just got my second coat of wax on the front bumper and hood. Hopefully the bugs will slide off. Also, I'm bring one of those folding camp chairs (see pic)

http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/78874/...CAMP_CHAIR.jpg

I'm sure there is going to be some sitting around a fire and what not. Unfortunately I only have one...but thought I would mention it anyway. They fold neatly into a little tube like sac. Some of the events say "bring your own lawn chairs".
