Now that we have the route down figured out, how are we doing the route back up?

Are we going to roll home separately or depart as a group? I am thinking I'll probably leave by 8AM Sunday to make it back home later in the evening...

Let me know what you guys are thinking. I know Lance mentioned possibly driving the Blue Ridge Parkway back up, which would proabably take 12 hours.

zZSportZz 05-14-2010 12:26 PM

Its still faster for me to backtrack your way and head south into southern MD via DC than it is for me to head to Richmond and then North. So I'm game to do whatever on the way back. I'll cruise where/when you guy(s) want to.

I don't know here. It will probably be a game-time decision for me as I'm off Monday and might take the scenic route back.

Sscottfitz 05-14-2010 03:27 PM

We were pretty much thinkin about the same -- early Sunday morning departure sounds good -- no preference as to route -- would like to get home before it get's TOO dark (21:00'ish) -- we are working on Monday.....

m4a1mustang 05-14-2010 03:30 PM

I'll look at a few route options. I have never driven the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Roanoke so I'm open to heading back that way. Getting home between 6-8PM would be nice...

Sscottfitz 05-14-2010 08:58 PM

Sending out electronic copies of the "Mini Trip Sheet" & the Communications Ref. Card via the CruiZ e-mail addresses (those who've registered for the Mid-A 370Z CruiZ) -- will pass out hard copies tomorrow at AAM as well.

Also sending out copies of my AAA Trip Ticket for those that find it useful - would of posted it, but it apparently exceeds the forum's 1MB limit.

See ya'll in the morning.

Big thanks to Steve for the info cards and route maps.

Don't worry, guys, I may have lost my sense of direction today, but I'll have it back come Thursday morning if I can find my way to Starbucks. :P

zZSportZz 05-15-2010 06:42 PM

Weather forecasts are calling for highs in the upper 70s / lower 80s and lows in the low-mid 50s. So some summery/spring clothes and a light jacket / hoodie is probably a good idea.

I'm going to cover it with red tape to make it look more normal. :)

zZSportZz 05-16-2010 09:10 PM

Wonder if that plastic is durable enough to put black duct tape over it....

Oh yeah. Duct tape will be fine over it!

tooohip 05-17-2010 08:00 AM

Wow, you guys will spend more time trying to remove and put that stuff back on then I will washing mine. ;-)

Haha... it took me 2 seconds to take that off. It just comes off in one motion.

tooohip 05-17-2010 08:12 AM

Hey are we gassing up as a group by Starbucks before heading out? I ask because I'll need to either before meeting the group or after since I have a 47 mile ride to get there.

Good question. I would plan on not as a group, but I will probably need to top off before we leave. There's an Exxon station around the corner from the Starbucks.

Since we're trying to leave at 6 I would definitely think everyone should be there by at least 5:30 now that I think about it...

Alrighty, or just make sure everyone knows to be fully fueled before arriving?

Yeah, that's a good idea. I still haven't decided where I am staying on Wednesday night. I have the option to be 5 minutes away from Starbucks, 15 minutes away, or 30 minutes away. My promiscuous lifestyle provides me with these opportunities. :rofl2:

Nice! I used to have that problem! ;-)

Steve -- have you "speed tested" your plastic wrap? Just wondering how it handled 70 MPH?

I'm starting to lean toward's Lance's approach -- get'er cleaned up once we get down there -- I'm betting there will be folks offering detail services? It's like treating your car to a Spa treatment.....:icon17:

m4a1mustang 05-17-2010 08:51 AM

Steve -- I am old school. If it flies off while we're on the highway just let me know, that's why we have radios after all!

I'll definitely let you know if that happens, LOL!

zZSportZz 05-17-2010 10:04 AM

Its pretty adhesive....i doubt it will fly off... would be funny if it did tho.

I will also need gas. I'm not familiar with the area. Where is the best place to gas up close to there?

Also, I think I'll be driving in the morning....I woke up at 5am this morning so I'm gonna condition myself this week to getting up early. Tomorrow morning will be 4am, then in bed by 10. I figure I will probably get more rest staying at home and sleeping in my own bed than crashing in the area and not being able to sleep.

I really do appreciate the offers tho!!!!!

Steve can probably answer this better, but I see this Sonoco real close:
12730 Shoppes Lane, Fairfax, VA 22033-3833

The Sonoco is right across 7100. When you go out from where we meet just turn left at the second light and head straight across 7100 and take the first left turn and take the first right and its right there.

It's funny because I pride myself on having such a great sense of direction (I know every route in the US and Canada), but I had a major brain fart. Even after seeing everyone int he damn cruise take the 495N exit, I decide to go S. LOL. :icon18:

That route would take too long. Just take a left out of Starbucks on Fair Lakes Circle, then make a right at the first light after you go under the bridge.
