I'll be there sunday-sunday (well leaving before dawn) I'll swing by before the event to say hi to everyone... mind you I'm just a shy little Asian kid so don't bite guys :ughdance: wouldn't mind going for a cruise with everyone pre-event or just cars n chill!

also do you guys mind sharing what radio channel you will be using with walkie talkies so I can see if you guys are around?

Look forward to meeting you. You'll get a resort map when you check in (if you are staying at Fontana) and can find cabin 660 on that as well as reaching out on the radio.

We start out on Channel 5 sub-channel 5. Sometimes we may have to change if to many hoodlums start jacking the channel.

awesome! if anything I can swing by the cabin to find out what your 'new' channel is after. I figure that we'll get a good mix of people... hopefully there won't be too many idiots :(

I'm mostly there for meeting other z fans, the driving and whole zdayz experience! and what I don't want to admit but I'm looking forward to running a z train through some roads lol :bowrofl:

Only one more full weekend before we leave for ZDAYZ!!!!

I updated the OP, so please review.

I put Shahid as the Chef for Monday. Chicken Tikka
I put Aniceh as the Chef for Tuesday. "A fish dish"
We do have a decent number of people there early in the week. AND we are going to be hosting Bryan and Michelle for dinner for a few nights as well. So if MAZOC wanted to do a pig roast again this year, I'll throw some cash at whoever is gathering and cooking that.

Let's talk meal plans soon!

Events when we are down there can be coordinated soon as well.

We should try to meet this Saturday to discuss. We can meet in MD or VA, whichever more ZDAYZ attendees can meet. I posted in the meet thread to discuss, please reply soon!

What do you think?

mishuko 05-05-2016 08:04 AM

I'll be there sun-sun... If you guys don't mind can me and waifu join the pig roast? We'll contribute some monies to the pig!

btw I'm going to sign up via your waiver too so you know who we are! I said. Edit: on form it has Arriving Monday but really will be there from Sunday

I can't open that file at work, so I'll update that tonight. We look forward to seeing you guys.

We'll definitely have food at the cabin, even if we don't roast a pig. What we have done in the past is folks help out by bringing lunch items, ice and whatever else we need. We should also give some cash to the chefs to help offset the dinner cost for them.

I'll be adding some more items to the OP here to mention some items we need people to bring. There are stores within 30 minutes of the resort and some of us make "runs" to pick up whatever is necessary. Ice condiments, etc... So we don't need to worry about bringing everything on the first trip. Some items we do prefer to have from the start, and I'll address those in the OP above.

b1adesofcha0s 05-05-2016 09:44 AM

Since I have no clue how to estimate for large groups, can someone tell me how many lbs of boneless chicken breast I should get to make dinner for Monday night?

Z Stig 05-05-2016 09:48 AM

Things I am bringing for the MAZOC crew:
2 Camp chairs
1 Cooler
Dimmable rope lighting for the porch rails
Bottled water
Citronella candles (2 to start with)
Chips for lunch
Plastic shelves for storage in the cabin
ALCOHOL (whiskey and vodka, probably)
Hot Dogs and buns (anyone interested in "veggie dogs" if they make such a thing?)
4 walkie talkies

I am pretty bad at that as well. I would think one pound per person is a good guess with some leftovers. There will be about 13-15 people there. Would 15 lbs be too much? Are you getting sides as well? Can some of the others help with that? I think we will have bagged salad available as a staple during the whole week, but I don't know what else goes with that.

Z Stig 05-05-2016 09:57 AM

Do you think we are going to roast a small pig again this year? I did not get there early enough to see how much trouble that was to do.

I can cook Wednesday night, but it will probably be Stouffer's lasagna, salad and garlic bread. I have a few chicken recipes that could work, but we are already having chicken one night. Anyone object to lasagna? I will also have a vegetarian lasagna for those that are inclined to have that.

IF ANYONE wants to step up and cook, that will work for me to back out and just contribute funds for the chefs to help cover their expenses.

Idk if it will be too much, but transporting that much might be a bit more challenging. Especially since the C7 has less interior space than the Z. I'll probably need to just find the biggest cooler that can fit in my car. I also need to make sure I can fit all the food I want to take for the rest of the week since my dietary restrictions will prevent me from eating a good portion of the food that's going to be prepared for the meals.

Chris Grigg has volunteered to make sides along with my dinner. I'm planning on doing what I did at the MAZOC bbq last year and have both a normal and a spicy batch. I will probably leave the chicken in bigger pieces though just because it's less prep work.

Last I heard from Jon is that there will not be a pig roast this year. There was just too much leftover last year that went to waste. I would definitely be down for some vegetarian lasagna.

Thanks, man! I try to choose meals that are easy to make in quantity, but I may indeed need to leverage your help! I'm now vacillating between fish tacos and some vegetarian/fish Persian dishes. Will have to see how supplies and recipes shape up.

Just for clarification, I'm not roasting a pig again this year. There was just too much pork left over to justify the expense and time involved to do it.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to underscore that Cabin 660 although not one of the larger cabins, has been the center of activity for the MAZOC group each year for ZDayZ. All are welcome to hang out with us. However, with several new attendees this year, I want to provide my basic rules for hanging out at cabin 660.

1. If you drink, do so responsibly. This means no shenanigans. We aren't having a college party at cabin 660 and won't tolerate anything of the like. If you are so inclined to be "that guy/girl" don't be surprised if you are asked to leave and not return. Its just that simple, but it has to be said.

If you plan to drink, plan to walk to the cabin and then back to your room or cabin where you stay. Nobody with the MAZOC group should be driving their car/truck/golf cart if they've been drinking. Do not get so drunk that you can't get back on your own. There will be no sleeping on the couch of cabin 660 for anyone who becomes too intoxicated. Be responsible for yourself so others can enjoy their time at ZDayZ.

2. There are usually a few early risers headed out to drive the Tail of the Dragon around 6:30AM. This means that cabin 660 usually closes up no later than 11PM or 12PM each night. Once the other folks from around the country begin showing up starting Wednesday, there will likely be other cabins where parties lasting long into the night are taking place. I say this so you can plan accordingly should you wish to stay out later. Just know that you risk missing out on the best time of the day (early morning) to run the tail of the dragon (no traffic/less State Police). Your choice, just know what to expect.

3. In the caravan down, there will be at least two full size trucks, with one towing a boat. This means we won't be going over 70 much. We take our time and get there in one piece, stopping for gas at a couple of places and also stopping in Christianburg for brunch/gas, with one last gas/supply stop in Bryson City. There is an Ingles grocery store there and you can get just about anything you would get here. Typically we arrive at Fontana Village between 4:30-5:30PM.

Lastly, ZDayZ is about Z cars at first, but then you meet the people and make friends and that is what draws people back the next year. We want MAZOC to continue to be a fun and safe time for everyone. You're going to have a great time!

:iagree:

For the early morning Dragon runs, we meet up at the General Store (you'll find out where that is when you get there).

We line up in order of driving skill so that no one gets stuck behind someone who is driving slower than they are. For new people it's recommended you start out near the back end of the group and then slowly work your way up the line throughout the week if you find that you're getting stuck behind someone slower than you.

DO NOT TRY AND OVERESTIMATE YOUR DRIVING SKILLS. Get familiar with the roads first before worrying about getting ahead of others. One mistake on that road and your driving into a wall, flying off a cliff, or falling into a lake. You don't get a trophy for being the fastest one around the Dragon. Start off slow and make sure you (and your car) drive home in one piece.

mishuko 05-07-2016 03:40 PM

well said! that's why i want to visit you guys early in the week before the shenanigan cool kids start popping up.

can't wait to meet you all!

6. HAMBURGER PATTIES
7. HAMBURGER BUNS

Thats at the tail end of the caravan down. About 45 miles out from Fontana Resort we stop in Bryson City and get those supplies. If you would like to get sodas/water at that point, that would be great.

Dee, FYI, Friday and Saturday are the event dinners at the main lodge, so if you paid to attend the dinner thats already included there. As for Thursday, we can certainly do wings that night, but you'll need to bring the sauce you want. Maybe you can bring that Thai Curry sauce from BWW? That was pretty tasty stuff. I'll bring the Franks for classic hot wings.

b1adesofcha0s 05-07-2016 04:26 PM

I think we may end up going out somewhere for lunch/dinner Thursday, so I wouldn't make that plan final just yet. You can always do wings for lunch on Saturday as an alternative.

we won't be with the caravan... we'll be there sunday a bit earlier so while we explore we'll head to town and buy a few cases of water and pop for everyone since our trunk will be empty at that point :rofl2:

Okay, I understand now. Robbinsville is probably closer to Fontana than Bryson City if you are going to be down at Fontana already. Either way, if you want to pick up water and sodas that will be much appreciated.

No worries, we'll be flexible and do it on one of the days that Dee is there. Thanks for the heads up!

it looks like we will have about 15 or so people in total for the first few days?

i'll get 2:1 ratio of water to pop and see how much i can fit into my trunk. based on your previous post we'll aim to get to your cabin around 6 or so for dinner. i'll pm you my # and i'll text you sunday. let me know if you need us to grab anything else.

thanks not familiar with the area at all... i'll GPS those locations!

We might want to stagger purchase of the buns and bread this year. I think we got a bunch on Sunday last year, and ended up with moldy bread products.

As you know I'll be coming down from Knoxville Thursday morning, hoping to arrive around 10am. If someone would take on the task of making a list of resupply items needed I could pick them up on my way down.

Last year I found good cell phone reception on the upper parking lot above the main lobby entrance to the lodge. I think text will work and I'll have email for sure Wednesday evening.

mishuko 05-09-2016 05:50 AM

I'm at the lodge so Wednesday evening I can email / pm a list of what you guys need to 370zzz

Z Stig 05-09-2016 07:18 AM

I updated the OP with some of the items that Jon listed for needing to get.
