Yea, HPDE doesn't come anywhere near me. I'd have to drive a long way just to do an event. I can do Auto-X in this area though.

The thing is a lot of the car control stuff you do at AutoX (which can be directly applied to The Dragon) doesn't really fly at a HPDE. Like Dan said in another thread, The Dragon is nothing more than high stakes autocross.

auto-x I'm pretty sure I was banned before I even parked to sign up based on my exhaust. so those old farts can blow me because their little baby cone course aint nothing compared to the dragon. they can come chase me there and see how god they are.....or really how big their balls are

each one is around $300 give or take. just doesn't seem to add up for me based on it's a bunch of time in a classroom and then a few runs around the track. now the one khoi told me about is 2 days for $345 and it ends up being about 8 hours of track time.

HPDE also costs $ in wear. Tires and brakes come to mind.
Autocross does this too, but a single 2-day autocross is not going to kill a set of tires and brakes the way HPDE can. Last edited by Z1NONLY; 05-21-2015 at 10:59 AM. |

This is definitely true, as the burnt brake caliper paint on my car will tell you. Definitely worth doing it at least once IMO. I loved it and learned a lot too. I may try out and AutoX test and tune since that solves the biggest problem I had with my AutoX experience, limited seat time.
