If folks are wondering what additional items they can bring, the following are things that are welcome:
- Cups (red solo types) - Extra charcoal (we have plenty of lighter fluid) - Bottled water or any other drinks you want to bring - Bag ice - Chips and dip - Condiments (mayo, ketchup, mustard, etc) - Any other side dish items (potato salad, cole slaw, pickles, veggies, sliced cheese) - Extra burger and hotdog buns - Aluminum foil If you plan to bring any of those items, post it up here so others will see it and can choose something that isn't already being brought or picked up while there. |
Stuff Still onHand from Last Year......
We actually still have a lot of items left over from last year that I'll load into the truck next week.
- Cups (Red Solos) - got plenty - Eating Utensils - knives, forks, & spoons (Clear Plastic & Sturdy) - got plenty - Aluminum Banquet Cooking/Serving pans - Stack of 21 ea. - I think that is plenty - Two ea. large Salt & Pepper grinders (both are almost full) - Some misc iced tea bags & instant coffee packets. Works for me. If people don't want salmon twice in one week I could do some sort of mustard roasted cod (with creme fraiche, shallots, and capers) instead. I'd just need some heads up so I could procure the required ingredients. Also, to support (and extend the benefit of) the pig roast, I'd be happy to bring some black beans (canned, of course, but they could easily be made into a cuban-style thing, if desired), rice, tortillas, cheese, sour cream, salsa, etc. That would make for some robust meals for all throughout the week, and a pretty hearty option for those of us that prefer not to eat the roast pig (beans and rice are a complete protein, after all!). |

As far as black beans go, I have about eight cans of the Goya brand black beans, but if you want to bring extra rice that is fine as well as the other items, (cheese, tortillas, sour cream, salsa). I believe you and I are on the same page as far as Pork tacos and burritos during the week. If you want to pick that up in Bryson City at the market there that will help you from having to worry about toting it down in a cooler. Either way works. Thanks! |
I'm going to make grilled chicken thighs in a couple different flavors, probably some grilled veggies or roasted asparagus and maybe some boxed rice pilaf thing to go along with it.
I think we should also add paper towels, paper plates, trash bags, etc to the list as well. Also aluminum foil. |
I'll probably make a meatloaf in addition to the salmon on Thursday to give people more options.
