not bad. on the website I saw the description for the Q80 concept they have a 3.0L twin turbo v6 with hybrid system.......makes me wonder if that engine is going to be the new one for the Q60 and maybe the new Z.

Interesting. I try not to get too excited over concepts or renderings as they always fall short in production.

looks aside, i'm curious about that engine. I mean the rumors swimming around the new Z have been saying a 3.0L TT V6 from Mercedes.

infinti now mentioning the same sort of spec engine for a concept is exciting to me.

if the next Z comes with that 400+HP TT V6 I may get a new one. :stirthepot:

Completely agree. That setup is the best out of all the rumors and if it comes to production I'll throw bags of money at them for it.

I think my prediction about the 2015 Nismo front fascia giving clues as to the Z35 is at least coming true for the Q60.

I like everything except the glass roof -- why???

I love the new nismo front end. plus I think the current Q50 front end is pretty good looking as well. could be better but not bad.

throw something with 400hp in there, hopefully boosted, and i'm in. i'll put the GT-R on hold for a bit longer lol

That is a sexy, sexy car yes this would put the GT-R on hold. Interior amazing. But I don't think the actual production car will look like this. The next Z is starting to look promising.

So will this be Infiniti's halo car or just a pre-cursor to the new G37 or Qwhatever now.

not a Halo just a new skyline/G37 coupe 40K sports coupe market like lexus RC or 3 series ect

Not bad, I am sure the final design will be toned down a good bit.
Would really like to see a halo Infiniti car like this with a V6TT (does not have to be the GTR motor/tranny) but something that pushes the 500HP range and provides a level of luxury you do not see in Nissan.

well latest news is the Eau Rogue might be shelved but the Q80 like mentioned before is possibly still in the works which would take that halo for now

there is a lot of the Q80 concept in the 60 and the 60 is set for sale I think late this fall. it should be telling what the production looks like.


as for GTR power..most rumors hint at that long talked about 3.0 engine and not the GTR engine for higher end infiniti's.

this might be reading way way too much into things..but the 2016 GTR engine builder name plate got a refresh mainly consisting of removing the visible GTR logo and Nissan wording and replacing it just with a simple Kanji for "Takumi" could be a design choice could be more as in one theory is so it could be put into another platform but that is total speculation

The Q80 is nice but I felt it was to far off from ever going production.
Yeah, sucks the Eau Rogue got shelved, but is that because of low production/cost issues or just because they did not feel like doing it anymore?

the news was infiniti was shifting their focus away from a car like that

to me it didnt make sense any way as if you are going to produce a car like that why not start with a new platform or new model.. the eau rouge was just a Q50 with a GTR motor and some carbon.. honestly it had the vibe of being more at home at SEMA than a a stand alone car in a infiniti showroom. thats just the feeling I got from it. it always felt like a one off fun project like the Juke-R or something rather than a infiniti doing their version of a M4 or RCF

I could see them bringing back and IPL version of the Q60 or something like that

True, all the videos I saw of people driving it basically said it was a nice Q50 with the GTR motor transplanted in it and also was the 7 speed auto (not the double clutch).

Maybe we will see something from the Q80 that is V6TT, luxury, with some solid performance to go up against the Germans.

What is the word on engine use for the R36? Just an upgraded VR38 with hybrid tech or a whole new design?

MC, Thanks for the great pics. The potential for a beautiful production version is there. If that 3.0 TT V6 comes goes in it and puts out 400 hp, this could be a real winner!

details are a little iffy beyond hybrid is confirmed. nissan is going to cross market it with the GTR Le mans car which is also hybrid and you will probably see a concept at tokyo motor show this november. there is still some R35 left with a face lift everyone thought was this year but didnt happen.

so i wouldnt expect the car until calendar year 2017 atleast

but If i was put on the spot it doesnt look to be a whole new design.. best guess is a reworked VR with 500-550hp then say 150-200 maybe electric. I think the electric will also be an over all power adder and not exclusively drive the front wheels as that seems way more complicated for a car trying to stay under say 120-140K price range

so yeah I think it will be a VR.. displacement could be different but who knows...also supposed to be paired with a 7 speed DCT

there really is a vaccuum of info on it with not even a rough mule spotted testing or anything

im really anticipating the engine info too as I want to have a hint for the Z35 as im going to be getting one since im out of the new GTR game for the foreseeable future. so im really following all of this closely

Works for my timeline, kid on the way so need 1-2 years to save up for the car, and I really enjoy the current R35 but thinking of seeing how the R36 comes out. Yeah, odd to not see any mule yet but they might be letting the Le mans car do the engine/suspension/etc work and then the last 6-12 months we will see the actual body running around.

I would love FI on both this and the new Z and I know there as been talk about multiple engines ( like how other markets got a 2.0 Turbo Q50) so i just want something different than the standard stout(ish) mid 300hp V6

The engine might be a normal VQ just like the Q50 has. When the G37 first came out in 08 it also had a carry over VQ engine. It won't be until the next Z comes out until the Q50,Q60 get their engine. That's what I think. I can't wait for the 12th to see.

MC do you regret getting the Nismo and not the next R36? Or will you eventually get a R36? Does your dad still have the stingray?

No not at all I got a piece of Nissan history that will be a collectors item forever. Not to mention the fact how much Nissan wanted me to have it means a lot beyond just the car. I'm sure the R36 will be awesome but I would now wait for the nismo version of that anyway if I were in the market

So my plan is to keep it for a long time and save up for a NISMO Z35 and get back in the Z scene like I used to be

He does yea but never drives it. He has some eye problems that crept up on him that prevents him from really enjoying it. I don't think it has 2k miles on it and he has had it since Oct 2013 sort of typical for a older vette owner I guess

That will be a nice setup. Can't wait to see it.
