Lottery?
Hey guys,
I had an idea for the forum, let me know what you think maybe it will or could fly. I was thinking about maybe starting a lottery.. Like have a $10 or $20 buy in and once a week or month have a drawing... the winner would get the money from the buy in to use for mods from a vendor on the forum.. I think it would be awesome for people who are kinda strapped for cash to be able to get mods for the Z... also a percentage of the pot could be sent to Ak to keep this awesome forum going... let me know what you think. It would also be open to premium members only.... I sent a PM to AK about this... |
yah, gambling is always a great way to earn money... :ugh:

Intensions is good but yeah I don't think this would work specially if it involves money. But I could be wrong.

Question, what if your in Canadia? |
Please elaborate why yes and no. It would be a good info for everyone.
Im with it if it would be legit and the rules are good and not open to questionable results. Just like the judging at Znationals Oh boy somebody is still bitter looser lol |
just do it on a boat in the river? :ugh2:
|
Yeah just like the mafia does! Lol
|
Aren't you 5-0 Wonka? :icon08: :ugh:
As always, Madwi sides with the law. :icon17: |
Don't call it a lottery, call it a raffle. 10 Dollar buy in to support the370z.com, (lets just say 10 buy in and AK keeps 10% for the site) and the winner gets a 90$ gift certificate for a forum Vendor. That's 100% legit in my book.
|
I see a lot of charities and other non-profits having raffles (see andrewbennett's post above). I can't remember seeing one run by a "not non-profit."

Or we could each save $20 a week for all the same reasons and not have any tax consequences. :inoutroflpuke:

I took a Q&D look at some of the hits on the Google link above and it looks like you have to be a registered non-profit and/or file some forms in some states (eg, CA). Even if it is legal where you are, I don't think you could sell tickets to people in those states. But I'm just some bozo on the Web - seek some expert advise.

Or Ak could get with a vendor(s) for diffrent items every week..
I.E. CF side blades... set raffle buy in for $5-$10 and winner gets the part Vendor probly makes 2-3 times normal cost, and with such a low buy in your really not losing much... and if you win you get $500 part for $5-$10 bucks... |

the yes/no is if it's a lottery it has to be registered or could get really nasty really quickly. raffle is another story... vote for raffle!
|
Or here's another idea have like a $100-$200 buy in for a forced induction kit... if enough people do it, it's possible.....
|
here's your laws and rules.
biggest issue right away is "REMEMBER -- donors winning a raffle prize with a fair market value greater than $599.99 are required to pay income tax on the fair market value of that prize. Charities are required to issue a Form W-2G to the donor and to the IRS" Sumption & Wyland - Strategic Planning, Executive Coaching, Training & Facilitation - Raffles & Charitable Lotteries Charity Raffles – Tread Carefully Raffle Laws | Raffle FAQ |
silly murica
|
Well its really up to everyone if they are willing to pay the tax on a big item... But this has the possibility to be great.. if enough people want to do it.

best part about the stupidity of taxes and whatnot in america is the amount of loopholes there are around them. |
Let us know what AK says about it.
Then we will seek petition from Obama. Just kidding. |
Here is another great lottery idea. A lottery where 500 of us pay $100 bucks each and the winner gets a 2015 Nismo.
At the Dubai airport, you could win a McLaren. They have lotteries limited to 5000 people, each paying the equivalent of $139 for a Ferrari or a McClaren. |
UPDATE....
