I took a Q&D look at some of the hits on the Google link above and it looks like you have to be a registered non-profit and/or file some forms in some states (eg, CA). Even if it is legal where you are, I don't think you could sell tickets to people in those states. But I'm just some bozo on the Web - seek some expert advise.

Or Ak could get with a vendor(s) for diffrent items every week..

I.E. CF side blades... set raffle buy in for $5-$10 and winner gets the part Vendor probly makes 2-3 times normal cost, and with such a low buy in your really not losing much... and if you win you get $500 part for $5-$10 bucks...

What if vendor is overseas? then you would be buying from them and nothing really happens in the states...

the yes/no is if it's a lottery it has to be registered or could get really nasty really quickly. raffle is another story... vote for raffle!

Wonka2581 10-16-2014 12:47 PM

Or here's another idea have like a $100-$200 buy in for a forced induction kit... if enough people do it, it's possible.....

FPenvy 10-16-2014 01:10 PM

here's your laws and rules.

biggest issue right away is "REMEMBER -- donors winning a raffle prize with a fair market value greater than $599.99 are required to pay income tax on the fair market value of that prize. Charities are required to issue a Form W-2G to the donor and to the IRS"

Well its really up to everyone if they are willing to pay the tax on a big item... But this has the possibility to be great.. if enough people want to do it.

could always raffle off gift cards with no determined amount of a small amount with the understanding with the supplier that it is for something else.

best part about the stupidity of taxes and whatnot in america is the amount of loopholes there are around them.

Let us know what AK says about it.

Then we will seek petition from Obama. Just kidding.

ZeeBabar 10-16-2014 05:15 PM

Here is another great lottery idea. A lottery where 500 of us pay $100 bucks each and the winner gets a 2015 Nismo.

At the Dubai airport, you could win a McLaren. They have lotteries limited to 5000 people, each paying the equivalent of $139 for a Ferrari or a McClaren.

I was thinking about maybe starting a lottery.. Like have a $10 or $20 buy in and once a week or month have a drawing... the winner would get the money from the buy in to use for mods from a vendor on the forum.. I think it would be awesome for people who are kinda strapped for cash to be able to get mods for the Z... also a percentage of the pot could be sent to you to keep this awesome forum going... let me know what you think. It would also be open to premium members only....

Thanks,

Hi,
I wanted to do this for the "member of the month" where randorm premium member will be picked and they will receive $100 to be used for any parts shop at the end of the month. I may look into this. Thanks fof
Ok

cool thanks AK... I made a thread on this and the people on the forum seem to all in for it... Please keep us posted..
