so i usually buy the 5qt jug at walmart to do the oil change, and a one qt bottle for topping off..

when i open the bottle i sharpie a date on it. usually dispose the remaining oil in the bottle if over a year old.

i also use a disposable paper funnel for topping off... too lazy to clean the plastic funnel each time.

wife suggested i buy icecone cones and cut the bottom in the future to save cost. hahaha.

Thank ya good sir! I checked it after i washed my car this weekend but since it was sitting on a slope before moving back in the garage it read around the lower O... my heart dropped and I thought F'... that is bad. checked again after my shower and it was half-wayish so that was a HUGE sigh of relief.

I'll add a cup of oil (or so) check back after to see the level and rinse& repeat until closer to the top hole. Once I get my maintanence I'll see which oil they use (or make a request to either m1 or castrol since either are readily available) and keep it consistent. Always nice to have that peace-of-mind.

yah, the owners' manual apparently says to measure 15min after shutting off car or something (so i read on someone's post, i think), but i just check every weekend before starting the car. my Z is always hooked up to the battery manager during the weekday so the hood is unlocked and partially open on the secondary latch.

so it's very easy for me to check the oil level anyway. i also check other vital fluid levels from passenger side to driver side... steering, coolant, brake, clutch. steering and coolant should be in the mid to high mark, brake can be anywhere within the max/min (level decreases as your pads wear), and clutch fluid should be at the max at all times.

tattle tale sign for csc failure is if you notice the clutch fluid level dropping.

Yea I usually do my checks before I go for a drive. Check the oil, pop the second hood for the clutch/brake fluids. My Clutch fluid was a bit under the MAX line and I was concerned since I didn't check initially. It's been there for a long time now and no color change... Even get OCD sometimes when my clutch feels 'soft' (or maybe my left leg is getting stronger) to double check!

if the fluid level isnt dropping then it should be fine.

i think the best suggestion i can make on preventing csc failure is to go easy on the clutch. minimize smashing the clutch-in and clutch dumps. i dont baby the clutch at all, just easy clutch-in and out. G35C's are also prone to csc failures (nissan apparently didnt see alarming rates of failures i suppse)..but i seriously doubt mines going any time soon.

also replacing the clutch fluid every now and then appears to help the life of the csc.

the cylinder is tiny compared to wat you're doing to the entire car... it's not going to hold up to much abuse.

Yea I don't pop the clutch out (intentionally atleast)... has slipped on a few occasions but driver error

I did smash the clutch a few times when I started especially when revving hard, but learned quickly that it doesn't matter how fast I push the pedal, the clutch will do it's job.

yah, as long as you dont smoke the clutch it's fine. even if you do smoke it, just go easy on the car for a while until it cools down. worst case you might get mild shudder, but should be fine for most 'oooops' slips haha

OH my gosh... lol yea I had a lot of shudders/clunking to start =_= bringing back some recent memories i wish to un-remember!

Although I have noticed on occasion when fully pressing the clutch / half way that there is a bit of chatter/clucking/knocking sounds and feel in the pedal. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesnt... usually after riding the clutch a bit going up a hill or when I'm about to park my car. Engagement is still good, will stall in first (oops moment this weeked) when on the brakes and off the clutch... damn my amateur hour was supposed to be over today
