Ugh, sorry to hear about that. I used to work for AT&T and every year there was a layoff because they purchasing another company and they had to reduce head count. With my wife and I both working there, I was very uneasy so I left a great career and higher potential earnings. After awhile you kinda get numb to it but there's always that voice in the back of your head.

well they had about 100ish positions axed last week.. we've been having acquistions and mergers over the past 3 yeas so there has also been hiring 'freezes'. don't get me wrong i think there is a bit of excess fat that needs to be trimmed (looking at an efficiency / business stand point) but at the same time these people's livelihoods will be affected.

it will be interested to see what happens when they make the official press release to provide further details... (i hope we aren't outsourcing anything like other competitors)
