OP, if you are concerned your insurance will double in cost, then you can't afford the GTR. Combine the ages of the people who already posted and collectively it is probably over 500 years of experience talking. Do like the others say and payoff what bills you have and SAVE/INVEST the rest. Max out your TSP and get an IRA.

Understand that - People who are "well off" got that way by making good decisions.

Lots of level headed advice here for the 23yr old OP.

I say keep your 370Z, budget to put about $3-5k into mods, invest the rest of your money, save some for a house. If you blow all of this money on a car you will regret it.

I currently have 75k. If I sell the car, im looking for 18k, and im hoping to save ~10k on my deployment. I would finance ~25,000. It'd be around 458 a month for a 60,000 dollar skyline.

on your depolyment, and im sure you appreciate life, take nothing for granted.

but that 75K.... i paid much over double that on my down payment on a mortgage over a decade ago.
i think you still have a way to go on saving your money for your future.

Well considering $75K wouldn't get you a new GT-R, yes, I had assumed it was used. I wasn't just speaking to the cost of the car. I was speaking to all the costs of owning the car.

The $3-4K per year just for routine maintenance and consumables that seems to be pretty standard for GT-R owners. Forget any modding.

Tires are like $500 apiece. Lots of people on the GT-R forum say expect to get 7-10K miles per set if you don't run the car too hard.

Fluids are pretty damn expensive. The transmission fluid retails at $80 per quart meaning the dealer charges nearly $800 for a flush. An oil change will typically run upwards of $200.

Rotors cost over $5K from the dealer and around $1K per axle for aftermarket ones. I've seen a number of owners say to expect them to last around 30K miles.
