So I was initially set on a G37 hard-top convertible 6mt with sports package before I bought my Z. Family has had a few G sedans, loved how they drove. Had a convertible Firebird, loved the top-down experience hated the rest.
Anyway, brother convinced me to take a look at a Z while browsing for a G37. Absolutely loved it but I was set on a hard top convertible. Ran insurance prices... below shows the cost difference per month compared to my current Z: '09 G37 Convertible +$94!! '12 370Z Roadster -$40..? Apparently I wasn't as set on a drop-top as I thought... So anyway, I fail to see the logic. If the numbers were flipped, I'd get it. But almost $150 difference Per Month on the same insurance policy for an older, GT version of the same car (and within a couple hundred dollars book value)? Seems insane. And why is the convertible cheaper to insure than the coupe, when it costs thousands more and I'm assuming is a higher risk for totalling/injury in an accident? Anyone else cross shop, or am I the only guy under 75 that still likes convertibles (sans the Miata/S2K crowd)? |
