Price gap premium and regular unleaded
Just curious to know why the gap is gradually increasing between premium unleaded and regular unleaded gas. When I first moved over here to the USA it was approx 20 cents more for premium, now the gap has increased by almost 40 cents.
It is my assumption that more and more car makers are recommending premium hence the stores hiking up their prices for profit. Whats your theory or fact? Perhaps there should be an inquiry as to why these prices are so high for premium. I found this article written on here most interesting. The truth about Regular, Plus and Super gasoline. I think the gap is quite constant... Only a few places are like 12 cents per jump, or 7 cents for the first jump and 13 cents for the second jump, but usually it's 20 cents. I only fill at 1 Shell station and 1 Chevron station

Hmmmmmm... Well it's smart to widen the gap from a business/economic standpoint. Still motherfuckery though

It's a 30 cent difference between reg and premium where I live. It sounds like a lot until I calculate out how much more it is per year than regular and it ends up only costing around $120 more a year to use premium for me.

I calculated about $100 difference per year with a $0.25 difference. And that's for daily driving... if $100-200 per year is worth even discussing then my opinion is you are in the wrong car.
