RC people?
Any rc hobby people here? cars, plane, heli... drift, offroad, racing... etc =]
I'm in for Drift and Heli |
used to be. Had a couple electric RC cars I would race around my street. Been meaning to get into planes and helis since I was 13 but always put the $$$ towards something else. Someday...
|
any pics of them??
HPI has a nice electric datson cup racer.......mmmmmmmm |
Drift. Its the hella fun
|
I used to, now i just got a little micro heli (e-flite blade mcx) but i don't really consider it rc, just a toy lol. I used to have an actual heli and beginner plane but the biggest thing i was into was trucks, i had a hpi savage 4.6ss, a revo and a stampede and a mini or two but then just lost interest and sold everything off. I wouldn't mind having that savage kicking around again though, that thing was fun. What i really want is a savage flux HP, that thing is unreal but i can't justify dropping 1300-1500 bucks on something like that lol. That hobbie is a damn money pit.

Some of the things people can do with RC helicopters is just mind boggling to the extreme - the flips and spins and circles while facing upwards. Craziness |

id say my favorite RC sport is boats, by a long way. it took awhile before i jumped on board with my friends since they dont "sound" fun, but man, what a blast. ive got a fiberglass boat that is about 3' long, weighs about 45 lbs, but does north of 70mph. low maintence, hold up in crashes, all around very fun when you get them on a course to race. |

I've got an HPI RS4 M/T that's decked out but non-functional ATM. The front axles don't like to stay in the diff... Haven't taken the time to work on it in a while. Guess I'll post some pics later on :D

I used to be sponsorred by Traxxas and helped develop their on-road nitro car while driving their 4-tec electric with full carbon fiber. prior to the sponsorship I ran a Losi on-road and had a few off-road cars for fun. I placed 1st in the B-main in a 5-state regional (only 5 cars per main, so essentially 6th place but would have placed 3rd with my time in the a-main) back in the day.
Now I've just got 2 1/12 scale Team associated off-road trucks at my parents lakehouse for fun, but have contemplated getting back into racing the on-road 4wd. would love a decked out TC4, but it's just too expensive to get back into from scratch. |
Stop bragging Cara...
jk man thats pretty awesome. Have you tried drift? |

or the Savage Flux HP BTW...that must have been a sweet experience. |
nah, no more connections. Hell, I was 15 at the time  so this was about 10 years ago. I dropped RC when I was able to get behind the wheel of a real car. I do remember the name of the guy that worked at Traxxas that got me the sponsorship. He was also the lead designer of the nitro 4-tec, and asked for my help with testing and tweaking. Brent Byers if I recall correctly.
I haven't tried drift...haven't really done anything but those little 1/12 scales since I stopped racing 10 years ago. |
Damn! LoL...get behind a real car. Way to smack me!

Figured I'd revive this.
With the Z gone and me needing a hobby, thinking about getting back into R/C. Unfortunately the 4wd touring class has all but died around here, looks like the new class to race is 1/8 scale 4wd buggies, nitro or electric. Anyone have one? thoughts? I remember not being too great at off-road, but I did kick *** at on-road. I guess it was the traction variations being in or out of "the groove", and managing throttle/brake mid-air to land the jumps correctly that always had me screwed up. |
Built this years ago (still have it), uses a 6 chan radio, custom and fuctions are way too long to list but here it is.
