Need advice on Bicycles

I'm actually a USA Cycling certified coach. I'd be happy to help, but you won't get anything truly "lightweight" in that price range unless you go used. I just sold

I'm actually a USA Cycling certified coach. I'd be happy to help, but you won't get anything truly "lightweight" in that price range unless you go used. I just sold a 22lbs bike for $1000 to a friend and feel like I gave it away!!

If your going to be riding trails often it's best to save a little money and get a bike with a component set that can handle the abuse. I like to stick to the rule of Shimano SLX(mountain) 105(road) equal or better. LMK if you have questions or PM me and I can give you my cell

so wat do you do in the winter time in IL? icebiking? use snow tires on your bikes?

or do what i did and still use the skinnies in ottawa winters... let's just say there was a lot of slippery moments but made me feel so cool. and cold.

bit of both... roads were shoveled although some ice around and salt.

didn't help i was using my tri-bike which is more aggressive... lol i remember there was a foot brige with some metal parts and that was slipper as hell... even in the summer!

now that i think back... i probably should of just stayed home ahhaa

very cool yah, the mountains in cali are beautiful. that's the thing about california...they have everything. ocean, mountains, woods, cities, even deserts.

Yeah! I love going out there! Usually hit up Monterey, ride the coast some and head into Salinas. There's a killer climb up Freemont Peak there! Hopefully hit it up again in April.
They actually open up Laguna Seca to cyclists on certain nights too. I've ridden my bike on it and not my car! Shame really! Lol
