Fred Phelps Sr, of Westboro Baptist Church infamy, has died. I encourage everyone to donate to your favorite veteran/GLBT/&c group in his memory.

I'm an Agnostic/Atheist (depends on what mood I'm in when asked) but was raised in a Southern Baptist home (church twice on Sunday, Bible study on Wednesdays, and numerous revivals thrown in). I was taught that homosexuality is a sin but I was also taught that we "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" - Romans 3 (KJV). And "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone" - John 8 (KJV). Fred seems to have been stuck in the Old Testament.

There's a lot of speculation he was just trolling for lawsuits. Even if he was, he and his clan caused a lot of pain with their antics. Either way, the world is a better place without him.

His family (the few of them that still wanted anything to do with him) should have him cremated. His grave would get defiled every night.

I am not religious at all but if there IS something after death I would have loved to be the fly on the wall watching his passing go down in the after life... This would be me.

Yeah. As concerned as he was about gay sex, something tells me we all know what his eternal punishment would be.

It'll be like the first day in the prison shower for him for the rest of time.

This is one of those times I almost wished I believed in all that religious stuff.

But what if I'm wrong, God really does hate fags, and the Pearly Gates were thrown wide open? The shock would kill me.

OK Ok, since it is Friday heres a little heaven joke... (longish)

Three men died in a car accident and met Jesus himself at the Pearly Gates.

The Lord spoke unto them saying, "I will ask you each a simple question. If you tell the truth I will allow you into heaven, but if you lie....Hell is waiting for you.

To the first man the Lord asked, "How many times did you cheat on your wife?" The first man replied, "Lord, I was a good husband. I never cheated on my wife." The Lord replied, "Very good! Not only will I allow you in, but for being faithful to your wife I will give you a huge mansion and a limo for your transportation.

To the second man the Lord asked, "How many times did you cheat on your wife?" The second man replied, "Lord, I cheated on my wife twice." The Lord replied, "I will allow you to come in, but for your unfaithfulness, you will get a four- bedroom house and a BMW.

To the third man the Lord asked, "So, how many times did you cheat on your wife?" The third man replied, "Lord, I cheated on my wife about 8 times." The Lord replied, "I will allow you to come in, but for your unfaithfulness, you will get a one-room apartment, and a Yugo for your transportation.

A couple hours later the second and third men saw the first man crying his eyes out. "Why are you crying?" the two men asked. "You got the mansion and limo!" The first man replied, "I'm crying because I saw my wife a little while ago, and she was riding a skateboard!"
