I love how his Sci-Fi is loosely based in real theory. It always makes me expand my view of the possible.

It was pretty dense and slow, so it got back-burnered as a kid. Which was odd, since I managed to get through pretty much everythig Tolkien wrote and his stuff after LOTR was ******* dry.

I haven't read anything longer than a magazine article in the last 15 years (unless you consider the FSM to be literature) but, if you like Sci-Fi/Fantasy, it's hard to go wrong with anything by Asimov, Robert Heinlein ("Stranger In A Strange Land" is one of my favorites), John W Campbell Jr, Ray Bradbury, Ursula K Le Guin, Ben Bova, Poul Anderson, and the other "Sci-Fi/Fantasy Masters" from 1950s-1980s. A slightly more recent recommendation would be "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson.

All very good suggestions. I'm not tied to Sci-fi/fantasy, it's just what I've been working on lately.

It's dry as DFAC chicken, but it does give you some insight if you're into all the WWII happenings (as I am).

I am, but that stuff always gets kicked to the bottom of the stack in favor of things that I don't need to fight my way through.

I've bought and tried reading "Mein Kampf", "Origin Of Species", and several other "historically important" books. Get the Cliff's Notes.

The Cliff Notes usually cost more than the public domain stuff.

I'll usually try to read it, get frustrated, and then just read the synopsis on Wikipedia.

You really need to have book/reading device and leave the phone/tablet on the desk. I have a bad habit of playing Plants vs Zombies instead of reading.

Yeah, the toilet is usually where I catch up on email. At least at work, where carrying a novel to the bathroom is frowned upon.
