I played with the G1 today, and wasn't impressed... That is why I got the Behold...

BanningZ 12-20-2008 11:49 PM

I may check out the Behold. I haven't gotten a chance to play with one yet. I'm going to go check it out at phonescoop.

BanningZ 12-20-2008 11:55 PM

I just can't get used to not having a physical qwerty keyboard. I just checked out the Behold. Amazing 5MP camera and reviews.

shumby 12-20-2008 11:57 PM

AK370Z 12-21-2008 12:01 AM

I currently have the iphone version 1.

I got it last year when it first came out. I love every aspect of it. The only phone I'll consider buying is the Google G1 phone. How is it?

I personally love it but some complaints are the lack of an No standard 3.5mm headphone jack, and t-mobile caps its bandwidth at 1GB. I will miss my WM 6, although many hate WM6. I'll be picking mine up around the 1st, unless a play around with the new Behold, and it sways my mind.

How easy the touchscreen typing was... The 5.0 Megapixel camera is awesome... the size of it. I dunno, I don't like that whole swing out motion of the G1.

My fiance really likes it... She adopted my Dash today, since I have no use for it.

Slidefox 12-21-2008 12:45 AM

A 3g Iphone would be ideal...

cow 12-21-2008 10:21 AM

I'm currently using an iPhone 3G. As I'm with T-Mobile, I was forced to use a Turbo Sim, thus killing my Edge/ 3G capabilities.

I've got a G1 waiting for me at my house. I'll get it when I go home for Christmas Wednesday. I'm eager to play with it, but I've disliked the last two Windows Mobile phones I've used.

We shall see.

It's been a bad phone year for me.

I started out with a Motorola Razr. Basic phone, but it worked well enough. It died a horrible death when my last car was totalled.
Bought a T-Mobile Dash (HTC Excalibur). Wasn't a huge fan, but it worked. Then that randomly took a dump. Bought a first gen iPhone from a friend & replaced the Dash. I accidentally dropped the iPhone off my balcony & spiderwebbed the screen. It still worked, but it was all ugly. Started using the second Dash, but then that broke (again, completely random). Bought the aforementioned iPhone 3G & that's still kicking after four months.

You're in luck then. Its not WM6 based. Its actually a linux based Google OS.
If you're referring to HTC, then this will be a huge step up for you.

iPhone 3G, hacked.
It's awesome, best phone IMO

RCZ 12-21-2008 11:05 AM

blackberry bold, of course..

Greasy 12-21-2008 11:07 AM

I use an enV. I like it a lot... When my service runs out, I'm going to switch over to a prepaid though, and get a phone from Europe or the Middle East or something. The phones over there are significantly nicer, and so many more to choose from!

tranceformer 12-21-2008 12:02 PM

Good to know. I look forward to trying it.

I've had the two HTC Excaliburs & they were both crap, BUT, I'm optimistic, as everything Google does seems to be golden.

Anywho, I'll have opinions by the weekend.

Getting my G1 tonight. Hurrah.

nogoodname 12-24-2008 10:06 AM

the best is to get a carrier that uses a SIM card, so you can sell ur phone or trade it at anytime......and get a new. so far I used 4 phones with the same SIM card.

cow 12-24-2008 10:15 AM

That's what I do. I've had the same SIM card since 2002.

nogoodname 12-24-2008 10:20 AM

I still have mine too! haha I keep it in my emergency travel stuff, along with my handcrack, battery charger/cell phone battery/ Emergency radio.

Regarding Sim cards. The G1 will be the first Carrier branded call phone I have bought in 5 years. I normally buy HTC through eBay and get the European models. I love that I can swap in any sim card, including any carrier worldwide.

nogoodname 12-24-2008 10:31 AM

^^ yea, that's the best part of it.....just swap phones whenever you feel like it...

My Nokia battery is dead, doesnt hold the charge, i went to one of those really cheap places for electronic stuff and they didnt even have a replacement battery...lol

Slidefox 12-24-2008 11:44 AM

Since I got my new behold, I put my Dash on Craigslist. Sold it in 1 day for $95... Woot Woot!!!

So I basically paid $20 for my new behold.... which is awesome by the way...

I bought my iphone last year and had a lot of problems with dropped calls and no reception in areas where my girlfriends pos generic phone also on At&t worked fine. I figured it was because hers was a 3g phone and the iphone was 1g. I called and pitched a fit about the poor performance and they gave me upgrade credit for a new phone so I didn't have to wait another 1.5 years to get a discount. The 3g works much better and I use my old iphone as an itouch and it pretty much stays connected to my truck stereo.

I also have an LG Voyager on Verizon. I really don't care for it. It works great as a phone but it is nowhere near as good at anything else as the iphone 3g.

Pushing_Tin 01-01-2009 03:49 AM

Verizon Voyaer, had it about 9 months now. Being able to watch TV is kinda cool.

Looking at the Iphone because I heard they are getting a scale application?
Comes in handy to weigh out things .5 grams, 1 gram, 30grams unless they skimp the bags! :<

nismoflip6 01-02-2009 02:22 PM

I have the copper colored G1...I love this phone...soo much better than my Blackberry Pearl...the phone is very responsive...the whole Google integration is great...
The construction of the phone could of been better...but I do say this is a great first gen for this phone...can't wait to see what else they do with this platform...

cow 01-02-2009 04:11 PM

Today marks a week I've used my G1. I like the phone, but I really do like the iPhone better.

I can't wait to see the updates to the G1, though.

watty19 02-10-2009 05:16 PM

Motorola Q9h Global FTW but i had the iPhone and would love to go back to it.

theDreamer 02-10-2009 06:50 PM

HTC Touch Pro (aka HTC Fuze on AT&T), went from an iPhone EDGE to an iPhone 3G to what I have now in the past year. On the comment about the iPhone and picture messages, not going to happen (yet at least). Either will have to email the picture or find another way.
