I had a hard time with that "saying no" thing earlier in my life.

I count myself as one of the lucky and blessed ones who made it out of active addiction alive. Hoffman had many years clean and sober and that scares the crap out of me.

It serves as a reminder that addiction is very, very patient. For those who get clean and sober, it waits for us. Like a tiger sleeping at the foot of the bed. It does not take much carelessness to awaken it.

I smoked 1 1/2 packs per day 'til I was 25. Woke up one day, lit one up..it tasted like sh't and I quit cold turkey on that very same morning. :tiphat:

my dad was a junkie, and an alcoholic for a long time.. but he has been clean 16 years..

Good for him. I am sure his life is better as is those around him. January 26, I had 13 1/2 years.

when I was/am in such situation, I always picture/imagine the consequence, it helps me making up my mind quicker and firmer. :icon17:
