Saw this article on the Drudge Report. Evidently the NHTSB is considering mandating a system called V2V in new cars. Supposedly, the system will enable vehicles to "communicate" with each other, thereby increasing safety by reducing accidents.
At least that's how it's being "sold" or marketed to us. But even some in the govt are critical, saying that it is basically a location tracking device, and also could be used to implement a tax on every mile driven. What do folks think? Is a potential accident avoidance system worth the risk of having your location tracked, and making it easy to tax every mile driven?
