I had an Xterra and LOVED it. Wrangler is more fun, but a horrifically overpriced and poorly built turd on wheels; if you rock crawl it is near unbeatable. I'd take an Xterra over a Jeep GC. Get an off road model and you get a rear locker and kick *** stereo.

This is my current SUV choice:

The newer Grand Cherokees are great cars, but I would definitely not write-off Japanese cars just because of bad experience with arguably the least reliable brands, outside of Suzuki of course. Toyotas/Lexus are especially good. You good get a really nice used Sequoia or 4Runner for the price you mentioned and it would suit your needs very nicely.

Also congrats on the land, I'm jealous. The Ozarks are gorgeous, I go to Greers Ferry Lake in north central Arkansas and I hope to move there in a few years once I graduate college. I'm sure you will enjoy the heck out of it. How far from Shreveport is your land? I just to live in Atlanta, TX and it was like 6 hours from there to Greers Ferry, just curious if it is around the same distance.

Also, discovered today, the Z is easy to.break into. Just lift the.back end up a touch. The Windows shoot down, and no alarm. It thinks its.being towed. Discovered this today while trying to re hang the.shitty Berk cbe. I pushed up from under the car, and that was the result. Pretty surprised its that easy.

Powersteering pump whining like a belt driven sc is normal for economy cars, they say. That includes altimas with more curvy sheetmetal.

I post here because I wish someone honest about the platform had clued me in before I bought it, although 5_0 tried, he wasn't near as openly vocal about it as I'm being. Just trying to look out for anyone considering one of these poser sports cars.

Any way I can hurt nissan, I will. I hope my posts and the incidents o have recounted cost sales. **** em.
So Nissan was the one using an impact to put on lugs, or the dealer? I've driven several other Z's besides my own, and the power steering doesn't make any abnormal noises.

Really? Every time I've lifted the back up on jackstands or ramps, that has never happened. Not once.

We get it already. You got a lemon and you feel raw about it. Coming onto a Z enthusiast forum bitching about it just seems like a complete waste of time.

Yeah, me lifting the back end up a few degrees doing that is wierd. I just know I never roll my Windows down, and both were down when I came back out after walking away in disgust right after doing that. Weird, I agree 100%.

I got my suv advice, got what I came back for. Taking a few parting shots.

The car warped rotors from the factory before the rims were touched by the dealer, so it would seem that the first failure was on Nissan. The other times happened at my dealer. Z1 slotted rotors warped nearly immediately. Nissan factory rotors turned many times, replaced several. Yeah, it cost me $500 out of pocket for the z1 rotors. Fail. New cars should not cost out of pocket for repairs, imo.

Yeah I'm pissed, no I don't care if I piss anyone here off. Just getting my experience out for other potential buyers. I cruised this forum a while before I bought, myself.

you should complain to nissan directly in my opinion... complaining here probably won't get anything resolved

I have. They paid for 1/2 the cost of my brake issues. Made me cover the z1 rotors the liar manager at the dealership wanted me to buy then disavowd all knowledge of pushing me to get.

I brought up the ps pump and Nissan tech line said "they all do it".

You sure you didn't have your keys in your pocket and accidentally held down the unlock button?

I agree you had a shitty run of things, but in all your blaming of Nissan I've never seen you so much as name the dealer involved, and they are far more responsible for the whole experience than Nissan.

ORR Nissan of Bossier, and ORR Nissan of shreveport. Louisiana. Both dealers GTR techs worked on it and finally fixed it by using hand tools only.

I may have pressed the key. It was on me. That did strike me as very odd, your explanations is much more logical. I'm not THAT big of a bencher at all.

The exhaust issues are 100% Berk. They have been contacted, took my info and credit card data and never sent me ****. Cheap sweatshop exhaust systems. Avoid!!! It didn't even come close to fitting right, and they never sent the modified brackets they alleged to be able to jerry rig. Every hanger on their cbe is angled sharply and has no swell on the end. They just slip out of the brackets. When hot, it grows by about 1/2" due to expansion from heat, and even cold doesn't fit fully in some of the hangers. Very very cheap system. The Nismo on my friends g35 fits so much better. Get what you pay for, o went bargain basement there. My fault on exhaust.

Yeah, if you managed to lift the back of the car enough to make the car think it's being towed you need to go try out for a strongman competition.

Another SUV to take a look at is a newer RAV4. The older ones were complete bitchmobiles, but the new ones move. They put a lot of motor in them.

Are there any SUVs that have not been suggested? I'll suggest them just to complete the thread.

To add on to he said about BMW, in terms of dealer service it will be hard to beat. The cars are very reliable and will suit your needs perfectly, especially the X5. If you do go that route consider going to Classic BMW here in Dallas. Its a few hours from you, but in my opinion very worth it. Their service departments are phenomenal and it sounds like you need a good customer experience after the **** ORR put you through. My dad's 650 had an electrical issue that no one could diagnosis properly and they just kept going at it; gave him a 650 from their lot that only had like 3000 miles on it to compensate while his was in there. Normally they would just give you a 3 series or something, but they let him use a nearly new 650 they had on the lot because no one at all could figure out what was wrong. He put close to 1000 miles on the loaner in the time it took them to fix his car and they were fine with it all in the name of keeping the customer happy due to their inability to fix a problem.

I've only known one other person with a BMW SUV. They had an X5, and I asked about it. They kindof shrugged. Were very neutral about it. I have heard great things about BMW service, though, but I've also heard that out of warranty, the service is pricy.
