Kettle Bells
So anyone have experience with kettle bells? Thinking about picking some up, but not sure what weight. Figure it's something I can do at home while watching TV & stuff vs. parking my lazy butt on the sofa all winter.
Mainly interested in doing swings to start with. I messed around with my 20 lbs. medicine ball and could probably do a couple hundred swings with it. Should I go up to like a 30 lbs. kettle bell? Bigger? I workout 6X a week (P90X) so I'm in pretty good shape already. Thoughts? Just don't want to start with something I'll outgrow in a couple of weeks 'cause they ain't cheap. |

I do a little Kettlebell to suppliment a lot of cardio. When I use 2 20lbs bells for the most part. I could probably easily go up to a 25lb bell, but it just really depends on your workout. I tend to do lots of reps so 20-25 is good for me.
There's a good book called "Enter the Kettlebell" that is kind of known as the KB bible. I should read it myself, but I hire someone to figure all that stuff out for me! http://www.amazon.com/Kettlebell-Str.../dp/0938045695

idk about these things. At the end of the day you can use traditional weights as well. It is gimmicky in my opinion. No one uses it in the gym I go to.

What are your goals? That is the real question.
If it is just to be healthy, working out will not make you healthier than a proper balanced diet. By balanced, I mean a diet where your carbs/fats/proteins/fibers/vitamins are at a proper amount. If you are trying to lose weight, workout is not the key answer either. It is eating at a deficit. Burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight. Are you doing it just to try something knew? If so just go to the gym and try the kettle bells there. You don't want to buy it and have it sitting around. |

Man you are small. LOL. I would suggest you get bigger but if you are happy at that weight then more power to you. Losing weight is easy. Just eat less than what you burn. It is easier to eat 100 less calories than to try and burn 100 calories. Key thing is to find what your maintenance is. Then eat 300-500 calories under. I was 167 lbs three months ago with 9% bodyfat. Now I am at 185 with like 15-18% bodyfat. Trying to hit 200 lbs by February. Should be easy with 3500-4000 calories. If it is something to do then you can try and buy the kettle bell. Worst case scenario, you sell them on craigslist or let them sit. |
