Happy Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day and thanks to all those that served.

All the best.

IDZRVIT 11-11-2013 09:28 AM

Happy? Maybe you don't understand the significance of this day.

damian_mb 11-11-2013 09:37 AM

I am glad that we have what we do today because of Veterans!!!! Seems like they are less and less appreciated as the generation gets younger.

Go thank a Veteran for their services and fighting for our freedom. :)

marty31 11-11-2013 10:20 AM

Yes happy. Happy to be alive. Memorial day would be a sad day to remember the fallen.

I think you have this day confused with Memorial Day. Don't worry, the President confused Memorial Day with Veterans day when he started pointing out survivors in the crowd ;)

Unfortunately, this seems to be more a function of how the general public feels about the recent military conflicts (politically and ideologically) than an appreciation of what the brave men and women of our armed forces sacrifice for us on the daily.

So true. I joined during Vietnam, when it was more common to get spit on, than thanked. :shakes head: I watched the pendulum swing the other way, knowing full well that it's going to head back the other way. If it was up to me, I'd still be on active duty, it sure made more sense than being a civilian (no whiney 'gimme, gimme, gimme' pukes). We give up the time when everyone else is getting settled into a career, to go to some God-forsaken places where people are shooting at us or we are hauling food, water and medical supplies into natural disasters to aid people that still don't like us. Then have to listen to people that say "You need to pay your dues" :shakes head:

As a veteran, it still kind of unnerves me when someone says "Thank you for your service." I never know how to respond. To those that have served and are still serving, thank you.

Semper Fi

Your welcome guys...I'm currently in Afghanistan

THANK YOU VETERANS for your service to our country.

As has been said by others, we are able to live in the land of the free, because of the brave.

IDZRVIT 11-11-2013 11:52 AM

In Canada, it's Rememberance Day, a day to remember those who made the supreme sacrifice. Nothing to be happy about. I guess it's different south of our border.

In the US, that's Memorial Day.

This was not meant to be provocative in any way. Originally Armistice Day and meant to commemorate the war to end all wars. 11/11 at the 11th hour. According to my grandfather it was a very happy day. He served from 1916-46.

Best wishes.

"I think it's like sooo important that we have a day to honor vets, because, like, these brave men and women are always there to take care of our pets, it's only right that we take care of them."

No harm done, it just struck a nerve. Imho, I think 'happy' was a poor word choice. Your Veteran's Day thanks all those who have served in peacetime and during war. That said, I would also like to thank your forces personnel being that we are allied forces. Btw, I'm a veteran who served my country for 20 years.
