This morning, the wife of one of his customers (or maybe it was his wife based on the matching Chevrolet Impala theme going on) was parked behind his car, but sticking into the alley even further. It was really tight getting through there with my truck this morning.
I knocked on her window and politely said "I just want to let you know it's a little tight to get through when you park there" to which her response was "It's okay, I'm just here temporarily".
"Okay, thank you, have a nice day".
I just don't look forward to this conversation because I just know he's gonna be a crotchety old guy about the whole thing. He's already butthurt that he can't park in front of my building. You know, old people don't like change... this is how we've always done it, and who are you coming into our neighborhood with your fancy upscale beauty parlor, punk kind of stuff.
Yeah, he's gonna be Walt Kowalski. Might even call me a Chink or a Jap.

Maybe if you offer preferred parking for him...have a space painted or signage for him. Something special. If you do that he will be hard pressed to refuse the "gift".

And if he's an old guy shovel a path for him...

me too. Sometimes though it's unavoidable. People just take advantage and encroach. We have had our issues and we live on 33 acres.

Local chevy dealership owner had property on both sides of us ...old farm lane runs through to a county road. He didnt like it much when hubby politely asked him and his gf not to cut through our property. He disliked it even more when hubby told him in no uncertain terms to stop. They moved. Thank god.

I've already offered him a space in my parking lot. It wouldn't matter if I gave him a VIP sign there, because the space he wants is either the one in front of my window (which isn't a space) or the space in the driveway alongside his building (which isn't a space).
I don't have anything to offer him that solves the problem.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going out of my way to do something to facilitate someone doing what they know they should be doing, or to prevent them from doing what they know they shouldn't be doing.

I find too that elderly people can be the rudest. Happens to my little one occasionally. Makes me very irate.
