Depends on where you live. In NYC or SF Bay Area $100K is not a lot of money. My 28 yr old kid lives in the Bay Area and is making $100K after 2 1/2 years on the job. (she's a college grad with a master's degree so she's worked hard to get there)

It's a lot different if you live in the rural south or rural midwest.

Seriously though, how much one makes is only a piece of it. If they make a ton but still have debts and bills to pay, it's a wash and does not mean much. Gotta go deeper than what one makes. Look at your savings rate, cash flow, investments, debt, life expectancy, etc. I laughed when I read the post.

Yep. My income is below the $30K bottom of the poll. But I'm retired, my house is paid for, my Z is paid for, my debt is zero, and I have some good investments. If you look at just my income, I'm pretty freaking poor. If you look at the big picture, I'm doing pretty good.
