Gun Safe, where to buy/what kind

Where do most of you purchase your gun safe? What should I be looking for, and what kind of prices should I be looking at. Right now I only have 2 pistols and one rifle. I want something safe to keep them in from fire or crooks. I am new to the gun world but I do see more weapons in my future...
I see so many different brands and such a range of prices, I thought I would ask here.
Thanks in advance

Im looking for the same thing, I want like a vault. But they'll run you anywhere up to $1000. Pricey, but very nice. And thats looking on eBay.

We have a Cannon gun safe similar to above.
Not sure what you are looking to get....but...
Buy one bigger than you think you need as once you start (just like the Z ;) ) things accumulate! And, the big ones are very heavy...so plan on basement or similar (?)...

We got the mechanical rotary lock...we didn't want to worry about the electronics failing on the digital ones.

If i put it in the basement, wouldn't moisture be a factor? I have an unfinished basement and its always kinda damp.......

I"m not sure what I am looking to get, what details should I be looking for? I want a stand up one like you got, maybe not quite as large. I'm thinking under $1,000 if possible. I seen some for $800 at bass pro that look the same as some for $2000 at the shooting range. Different brands tho

They make dehumidifiers for gun vaults.

All I know, buy the heaviest one, although you just said its for your basement, not sure how you're gonna get it in, lol

Lastly, check Costco, both in store and online

 ours is in basement and yes dampness could be an issue. We have a couple different small dehumidifiers inside it. They have silica gel beads that are reusable/renewable. We paid about 1100 for ours but we got it more than 10 years ago.
Check the fire ratings too...obviously the longer times and higher temp ratings are better.

It is not definately for my basement, that was cherries recommendation. But I guess I would just bring it through the door?

 we used 1" dowel rods to roll it across the floor. Omg!! It was a hugely painful long ordeal getting it installed.

There are so many variables...all depends on what you want.

Hubby recommendations:
1-buy larger than you think u need, you can store more than guns in it.
2-buy one heavy enough that it can't be carried off, then bolt it down.
3-how many pins secure the door, more pins=more secure=more $$$
4-nice finish, exterior will cost more...the less pretty ones will be just as secure but cheaper.
5-go someplace that has tons of them in stock and do side by side comparisons.

Absolutely do NOT buy a "Sentry Safe"... they are made from the equivalent of legos. :shakes head:
