Very sad day today-12 of our finest were murdered today

I thought I saw the death of famous people posted here in the past. I'm not sure if it's ok to post this but I'll take a chance.
12 of our best (military) were shot & murdered at our Wash. DC navy station.

Let's take some time to reflect, pray for those that do that. :(

I heard about that active shooter. Sad day indeed.

RIP brothers.

Thoughts go out to the families

Thinking back - I used to work in the SEFC / naval yards back in the early 90s as a contractor before it was all rebuilt... drilling holes and taking soil / water samples... I remember hearing gun shots on a near daily basis. I'm sure it's changed since then but that part of town was pretty rough back then.

However the very sad part is that the naval yard is a gun free zone. Not one of the victims had a gun.

I don't know if any federal campuses allow possession of firearms by non-security staff.

It's a base not a campus. These people were military. The same thing happened in TX. (remember the work violence case)? Even when I go to my VA mental doctor visits, there are signs of no weapons allowed on that military property.

Seems strange that our trained military people can't carry weapons. As far as security only possessing fire arms, I guess the bad guys just don't follow the laws very much. Maybe they can't read?

There^^^^is wisdom to what I write. Sometimes:)

Same holds true for bases. Actually, I've found military installations more restrictive than the civilian world.

I wouldn't say it is happening more often. Just that more of it is being captured on the news.

There are shootings that do not get reported on the big news.

Sometimes there are big shootings here in Chicago and it kind of gets swept under the rug.

Last few days the President has been criticized for talking politics right after the shootings.
