Sega Dreamcast 2

So everyone, I pulled my Dreamcast out of the box the other day, and played it for hours. I can only say it's a shame it all stopped back around 2002 "I think". I'm sure most of you missed the days of Sega and rival Nintendo when games were about games, not how much they can sell, and multi platform. If you played Sega you knew what you were getting same goes to Nintendo, but with all the same games being bridged to almost all consoles, i've givin up on this gen of gaming. GT5 is all I look forward to and maybe deadrising 2 :excited:

Here's the question if in 2011 Sega announces Dreamcast 2 with a whole bunch of new exclusives titles, would you buy a Dreamcast 2?

We had a DreamCast and it was truly a remarkable piece hardware at the time. Unfortunately some idiot at Sega decided to delay the internet access for something like a full year even though they could technically do it. That let everyone else catch up. Great hardware, bad business decisions.

Umm there is a dreamcast 2 - its called the wii.. and the reason dc died is b/c games were too easy to pirate ... and its the same w/ the wii these days... Good time :)

The wii is actually a gamecube lol, but pirating is becoming a huge issue now, especially with the PSP and Xbox.

The big reason the dreamcast failed was lack of games (or dev support). I could see a DC2 selling very well but taking on the Wii or 360/PS3 would be a challenge. I would love to see someone kick Nintendo off their high horse.

You guys don't remember sega cd, 32x, Saturn, game gear? sega doesn't support it's own hardware. Never ever wish for another sega game system.

Shunya 08-06-2009 01:14 PM

i wouldn't buy it. I'd rather be loyal to my PS3 and 360

Agreed :tiphat:

Does anyone know if Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast is single player, since there's no servers up?

Almost - but no cigar... the reason the dreamcast failed is because it was too easy to pirate games... this lead to people who made these games not make em any more... no revenue to game devs = no games = no more dreamcast

By that logic PS1 should have too since people having pirating PS1 games by the boatload. I mean piracy is one of the reason why it failed but it's not the main reason why it failed. Other reasons include premature launch(to beat PS2's launch date,) lack of support from third party developers, lack of DVD capability, Sega's lack of support in its own system(nothing new, look at their support for Sega CD, Saturn, Master System, etc,)

I still hve my Dreamcast. I've replaced its guts 3 times now. I love my PS3 but the Dreamcast still looks pretty damn good on the Bravia. I still love to play Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, and Worms Armageddon.

edeeZee 08-06-2009 08:46 PM

I miss the old school video game arcades like Aladdin's Castle, Timeout and some others. I used to love going to pizza parlors with video games in the back. Pizza, rootbeer and video games were the combo!

How do I adjust the screen settings so it would be full screen?

I haven't had a problem with full screen, my TV automatically detects and adjusts.

AARC51 08-07-2009 04:22 PM

No EA games = dead console. That's the singular reason the Dreamcast crapped out.

Anatoray 08-07-2009 05:01 PM

If Sega had announced a Dreamcast 2 BEFORE they ruined every good series name they had under their roof, I'd be pumped. Unfortunately, the've managed to wreck Sonic, NiGHTS, Virtua Tennis, Virtual On, and Phantasy Star. It would take more than just an announcement. I would need to see something solid and huge, like another Panzer Dragoon.
