If you are comfortable with your doctor then that is a great place to be. Difficult to find a good doctor sometimes. Best of luck to you!

do you know people that have had their hips replaced... suggest you find some, especially look for the ones that try to stay active... i bet you'd be surprised, they carry on...
if it were me, i'd try to prolong the surgery and stretch it out... seems like this kind of technology gets better every year.... think $6m man ! |

I don't know anybody? I'm going to research it some more. No real alternatives though

looks like some good groups to talk with here... hip replacement patient support group - Google Search many of these are oriented to elderly, but wtf worth a look...
adding "sports medicine" to the search returns more hits focused on young people / athletes... hip replacement sports medicine - Google Search also came across this I've heard that only male athletes are being given the new hip joints where they resurface rather than replace the joint. After having gone through a bunch of painful tests and three different doctors, I finally found someone who knew exactly what was wrong with my back. We looked at the X-rays and I could see it was a very old injury not some garbage the three doctors had said it was. STRONGLY recommend getting a second opinion. Remember Doctors and Lawyers are the only two profession who practice their profession. The rest of the world actually know what they are doing. Sorry, have low opinion of doctors. Get second opinion. Not having to do it, I can easily say if $$ not an issue, get the titanium ball joints. Maybe NISMO shocks. A friend's 86 year old mother had the operation. 6 weeks later, walking etc. Now swimming, walking etc no problem. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear that red. If it were me I'd have the surgery now while I was young and healthy and spend the second half of my life taking it easier, but still doing activities that I loved.
