As someone looking to purchase a house, honestly if I had to choose one RIGHT NOW, it'd be the XBox One. I like the idea of having everything fully integrated.

Everybody is yelling at MSFT because there are devices that do things better than the XBox One claims its capabilities to be, but I can see what Microsoft is doing here. YES there are multiple devices, but why deal with 7 remotes when you have just one? I'd love to have a house TV with just my XBox underneath it, controlling everything. Easy as hell to clean up

I agree with privacy - if you're signed up for Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, ANYTHING SOCIAL - you're already giving up the majority of your privacy rights. Are you really going to draw the line at a video game machine? It's the most backwards way possible for the government to 'spy' on you...and again, it's fixed with a simple post it

I forgot to mention the Kinect/privacy aspect. That being a reason to not get the Xbox One I understand to a degree. Someone wanting their privacy is very important and you should feel 100% satisfied in knowing that it is secure.

It just does not bother me because I have come to realize our privacy is already gone whether we think it is or not. If they want information they will get it. Would the Kinect possibly be an easier route for them to obtain information? Yes. Do I think that is the purpose of it? No. I truly believe when they say I can turn it off (it does need to remain plugged in) that it is off, and will stay off.

I feel like a Microsoft advocate all of a sudden Both systems are going to be great. We are going to have a blast over the next 10-15 years with them. If you choose the PS4 over the Xbox One, great, just do it for the right reasons. Not because "Everyone else is doing it".

There is no denying Microsoft delivered the best online gaming experience with the current (soon to be last) generation of gaming. I am 100% confident they will deliver again and that is why I am choosing them over the PS4 (for online gaming). Heck it was designed to be online at all times. Makes sense it would be the best route for online gaming.

P.S im also getting a PS4 I like both!

Xbox One Will Not Require Internet, Restrict Used Games - IGN

official now on IGN as well. Looks like that ruins the ability to have friends play your shared games free... great that microsoft listened to the complaints and changed their standing. But not great that people dont get all their facts straight before complaining and jumping on the bandwagon.

Again, xbox one is not an option for me in part because of privacy. This and some other car forums are my social interface. If you drill enough down, you can find me, but I don't just throw it out there.

Microsoft doesn't need to listen in on me, look at pictures of my stuff, or enable a motivated hacker to do the same.

Also it is overpriced due to the kinect being mandatory.

And there are other reasons.

Just restating my position in the midst of all this privacy exasperation sentiment

That is why I said you deserve to feel 100% secure. I was just stating I do. By design you can not hack systems in a manner to control them. At most you can hack into the MS servers and steal account info. Which did happen to me on one of my accounts. Some kid spent all my points on FIFA soccer downloads.

I agree the Xbox One is not for you

Unlike Sony all of my CC information was encrypted and not stolen in the process. Lets not forget about this Sony Network Outage

I mostly just don't want the device to need it's camera on and take pictures of me and automatically share them with my friends for whatever reason. I'm not too concerned with hackers or the like; being in the industry, that risk is just really not a big deal. For me, it's mostly the sharing and access to things without me specifically granting access or sharing them.

Kinda similar to how some apps want your Facebook/Twitter account and then opt you into sharing what you just watched, clicked on, took a picture of, read, searched for, etc.
