I liked both consoles, so i preordered both. I currently have a xbox 360 slim which is still running great (almost 2 years since i've own). I upgraded from a xbox 360 arcade version but just for the wifi connectivity. I recently sold my ps3 (1st model) because it was just collecting dust. Mostly only played killzone and god of war.
Xbox one is my choice, reason i also preordered the PS4 is because there might be a desperate parent/gamer wanting to get it. Hopefully it gets sold out and back ordered for months so i can make a good profit and basically pay half or more for the xbox one (plus the ps4 expense). |

Wow, I'm surprised by the poll results so far. I thought Xbox would be winning, or at least be a close race.

Well im back from a pre order spree. I have 4 PS3's and 3 Xbox Ones coming. I hope to make enough on them to pay for my three systems (Probably 2 Xbox Ones and a PS4).
Something I found interesting is the Xbox One was sold out in almost every store I went to. The PS4 was at everyone of them. Granted they seemed to also be getting 10-15 more PS4's. I am happy to see both systems doing well though. The stores that were sold out said to keep checking back because they are being updated slowly with more units available.

I traded in my 360 today and got $135 credit for it..so im sitting at $235 on my xbox one 5 months out. even though i got both im putting more toward that as I think the PS4 date is leaning toward the 19/20th of november so the xbox is gonna have about a 2-3 week jump on it..
i decided i didnt need my 360 anymore as there arnt any exclusives between now and the one. Also since i have to keep my PS3 for GT6 im going to get GTAV on it as i will probably hold on to that one for a while |

Some very good info to clarify some rumors and/or hate for the new Xbox One. It is a good read I suggest checking it out.
Xbox One Twitch Microsoft says that Twitch is to be built into the Xbox One. It allows other gamers to view live streamed play but with a twist. They can comment in real time on a social feed, while the audio of the player is taken and played over the top too. We can see this as being a great way for friends to help each other play through sections of games that one or more find difficult. Will my Microsoft Points still work? No. As previously revealed, Microsoft is to ditch Microsoft Points in favour of local currency. Rather than having to work out a convoluted exchange rate in your head, you will be able to pay in pounds and pence in the UK. Microsoft Points that you've earned through Xbox Live Rewards will remain in your Xbox account and will transition to your local currency with the rest of your Microsoft Points. Prior to the transition, all your earned Pending Points will be deposited into your account. Does Xbox One require an "always on" internet connection? No, it does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the internet. Microsoft says it has designed the Xbox One to be "your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready". It is a designed so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your net connection. You won't need to be always connected, but you will need to have an internet connection. That's the basic bottom line of the connectivity requirements of the new console. Microsoft say that for an optimal experience, it recommends a broadband connection of 1.5Mbps and that while a persistent connection is not required, Xbox One is designed to verify if system, application or game updates are needed and to see if you have acquired new games, or resold, traded in, or given your game to a friend. It also notes that games that are designed to take advantage of the cloud may require a connection. "With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies," says Microsoft. Does the Xbox One let me play used games? When it comes to trade-in games you can, don't panic, resell your disc-based games, but it isn't as simple as you've previously known it. Shifting the focus away from itself, Microsoft is letting game publishers enable certain rules. You to trade in your games at participating retailers, but they might restrict what you can do, and how much it costs. EA has already run a scheme like this that forced you to buy an online code to play a second-hand game, however it scraped that scheme earlier in the year. Furthermore you will be able to give your games to friends. According to Microsoft the Xbox One is "designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends." What it means by that is that there are no fees charged as part of these transfers, but there are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once. Is every game installed on the console? After signing in and installing your new game, you can play any Xbox One game from any Xbox One because a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud. For example, while you are logged in at your friend’s house, you can play your games, rather than worrying about whether or not you've remembered the disc. Can I use my current Gamertag on Xbox One and will my Gamerscore and Achievements transfer? Yes. Your current Xbox Live Gamertag will stay with you on Xbox One if you choose to keep it, and your hard-earned Gamerscore and Achievements will carry over from Xbox 360. Is there anything different about Xbox One Achievements? Yes. There are now two types of Achievements: achievements and challenges. An achievement is the same as on the Xbox 360. There’s a goal or activity you must accomplish and a reward that you receive upon completion. You can unlock an achievement at any time, be it on a game’s launch day or 3 years later. A challenge, on the other hand, is more like an opportunity that you need to grab while you can. It is also comprised of a goal and a reward; however, challenges are time-bound (as in, real life time). That means you can only unlock during its eligible time window, and if you get close but don’t complete the goal when it ends, then tough luck says Microsoft. Will Xbox One be backward compatible with my existing games? No. The Xbox One hardware is not compatible with Xbox 360 games. Will the XBox One support 4K gaming and movies? Yes. Microsoft has confirmed the Xbox One will support 4K resolution and 3D. Link to full page: Everything to know about Xbox One (Currently)

Thanks im glad I found that cleared up alot of my concerns, I actually have none anymore. The only problem I have right now is I need to figure out if having two Xbox Ones in the same room will work.
We currently have two TV's with 2 Xbox 360's in the same room. It works great currently but im afraid with the always on Kinect me saying "Xbox On" is going to turn on both systems. Maybe it has voice recognition and will only turn one on??? On another note 4k support is awesome, while Sony pushes the technology with TV's/Blu-Ray Players, I will get closer and closer to 4k gaming. To bad the PS4 will not support it...wtf are they thinking.

Thanks Mr&Mrs for all the info. I am going for the Xbox One now, mainly because of the 4K resolution support, superior cloud support, Kinect/TV support. DRM isn't a problem for me as I have internet (doesn't everyone?? hah)
May I ask, why have 2 xbox's/tv's in the same room? Not a fan of split screen I take it? Edit: You are very lucky to have a wife that games with you! My lady freaks out and tosses the controller from anxiety when getting shot at..

Also, have you heard which system is easier to develop games for? I heard 360 was easier to develop for and even with inferior power, had better graphics than the PS3 at times because the software was better. Any thoughts?
Sorry if this was discussed earlier I haven't read everything posted.

She only plays a select few titles and some I get really into so I do not want her eating up my screen Quote:
#1 Developers already spend lots of money making games hoping to make some profit in the long run. So why over develop a game for one platform when you can slap it on a different disc/cloud with little effort and deliver the same graphics to both systems. Now the one with more power may run it a little smoother or faster but only a benchmark tester would probably be able to notice it. #2 You can have hardware 50x better but if 4k technology takes off, which I see no reason it won't, that 50x better hardware won't compete at a 4k level. I know my posts seem to be defending Microsoft but it is because of all the bad info I have read then debunked on my own. I want to make sure I make a fair choice not an internet influenced/propaganda one. That said I still dont know which one im gaming on yet! The Kinect thing I mentioned above could be a problem if I want to go that route.

To touch some more on the performance of the systems here is the best information I have found so far: Xbox One vs PS4 Full Specs On paper the PS4 is a little better, but as I mentioned above that does not bother me. The PS3 was better on paper too and anyone being honest can say the Xbox 360 performed better with games.
Time will tell which system is easier for developers.

Thanks again for all the info Mr&Mrs and Firehawk!
Still am confused why console hardware can't be upgraded with future tech from AMD. Similar to what the N64 did with that additional memory pack or whatever that was in order to play the more memory intensive games. I agree with the importance of the 4K support, although we'll have to wait for 4K games to come out. By that time, PS4 may come out with a refresh version (similar to PS3 Slim) that supports 4K? Who knows.
