Very few people are. That's why I don't have a problem with dying.

That whole thing about "growing up & being someone" was a bit of a load of crap.

In much the same way your work continues to move along just fine when youre on vacation, the world will still plug along just fine with the absence of any one one individual, no matter how important they may seem.

Wow. You guys watched too much "The Day the Earth Stood Still." But I agree with SmurfBlu, I'm gone either way so I might as well.

Not sure what that is, but if it agrees with my point, then it's obviously correct :D

Agreed completely.

Everyone has a purpose or mission to accomplish. Plus we all have goals! No one is you, your the individual!

Importance is in yourself, that's all that counts. Your better than the other guy.
You were missed, weather they tell you or not!

I'd do it. Single no family of my own, sure.

BanningZ 07-26-2009 10:37 PM

I'd do it.

Like smurfblu13 said, we're all going it just matters how you leave.

XwChriswX 07-26-2009 10:48 PM

Didn't this already happen? Jesus anyone???

(I'm not religous at all... but there is a point in that lol)

I agree with Frost on this one. He couldn't have said it more perfect than "we need a good house cleaning" Let's be real, it's in our nature to destroy ourselves and everything in our paths. We are parasites on this earth and eventually we WILL finally finish the job that we have already started and destroy it. I'm gonna live my life to it's fullest while I can, so screw dying for thousands that are gonna destroy themselves anyway.

This question is really the same as have you ever loved anybody more than yourself. If you have, there is a good chance that you would die for that person and therefore you'd do it. Don't get me wrong there is a decent amount from the 6 billion that the earth could do without, heck some of you are on this form right now :) but it's very unrealistic and it's not going to happen so it's ok to lie too.

To answer your question, yes, I have loved someone else more then myself.

Here's some snippets from one of my favorite books, 48 Laws of Power:

For every famous martyr there are 1000's more who have inspired NEITHER a religion nor a rebellion, so that if martyrdom does sometimes grant a certain power, it does so unpredictably. More important, you will not be around to enjoy that power, such as it is. And there is finally something selfish and arrogant about martyrs, as if they felt their followers were less important than their own glory.

Martyrdom serves no purpose--better to live on in an oppressive world, even to thrive in it. ;)

Nice idea - one human's life saving humanity.... but in reality the only real change we can make is ourselves individually. A meteor isn't going to change human nature....
