Not to mention Japan's telecom infrastructure is mainly all fiber... the initial cost was probably a lot more but in the long run it's well worth it because it leaves them a lot of room for expansion. Here in the states we still have copper everywhere... and even in new subdivisions and construction areas they're still laying down copper

Japan is just way zhead with common sense infrastructure, technology, etc... etc... etc...
