I didn't need to do any cutting on this bumper, but have done similar work in the past and it sounds like you've done all the necessary due diligence. Speaking from past experience, making the first cut is the hardest part. It's easier after that because you just put yourself in a do or die type of situation. Review your game plan one more time, take a deep breath, and take the plunge. I don't think you'll have any issue seeing this project through to completion and to your satisfaction

Found myself in a similar situation when I installed a new dryer vent in my house. Holding a Sawzall, It took many deep breaths and repeating to myself "okay, hole in house... it's gonna be okay" several times before I made the cuts to expand the pilot hole.

Sadly, I'd feel more comfortable cutting a hole in the house than my front bumper.

I had a hole in my wall nearly the size of the Z less than a month after purchasing our house

I was installing a motorized TV wall mount over the fire place and running wiring for power, A/V inputs, and speaker wiring for front and center channels. However, I had help from a guy who had significant experience with his own house. BFG is absolutely right about the first cut. It's the hardest, but once it's done you just keep moving forward

I always think I can do everything myself and just lack the proper tools in many cases. However, just before I actually commit to a project, I try to go through all the steps and think about where I might have the most trouble. If necessary, I have a professional or friend already lined out to help and/or fix my mistakes just in case. With the car, I always have to be prepared for worst case because it's my DD. Working on the house isn't a big deal unless I'm screwing with major systems like electrical or mechanical for more than a few hours (just have to put up with the wife getting irritated with the construction when it takes longer than the "few hours" you originally told her

Same here. I love demoing and doing stuff around the house but am hesitant when it comes to the car. Mainly because with the house I can pretty much fix anything with the tools I have and trips to Home Depot. Messing up the body of my car requires work that I can't do at home.

And the Z is a lot prettier than my house

My biggest concern for housing construction is having a vehicle to transport anything large from the hardware store home

Well, I took the Z to Red Lobster yesterday and got keyed!!!!!!!!!!

WTF is wrong with people??? Whatever, I didn't plan in keeping that fender (rear driver's side) anyway.

And no, it's not rock damage. The scratches specifically begin just behind the door handle.

Got my rim back and I'm not sure I'm happy.

My other rims are dirty at the moment (keeps raining too), so I can't really say 100% that it's a different colour.

I may sit down in the garage today and clean up the rims to compare.

It was hard to tell when I took delivery, because I didn't have anything to compare it to.

Is it possible that someone thought your car looked so delicious that they mistook it for a huge lobster and scratched it with their knife trying to cut off a piece and eat it?
