Well, I think it depends on the direction you are going with your gear. If you're looking to get spend the $$$ and have the full range of equipment, I would go for the full thing. I haven't personally heard a lot about the Dewalt, but I'm sure it's fine. My buddy has the Porter Cable version and loves it. Also, the pads are bigger, so the jobs get done faster.

If you're like me and don't have the time or money to sink into detailing, I would go with the Meguiar's DA. The DA would also be useful for some of the deeper scratches that I have had trouble doing by hand or if I need to polish larger areas. with Jar it depends on how far you want to go or take your detailing. However I have both rotary and DA I can safely say 95-98% of the time a DA will be more then enough to get the job done

I would also look into getting 2 different sizes of pads and back plates so you can get to all areas large or small. My griots DA I use both 6" and 3" pads

I'm thinking meguiar's too, just because it has the feedback circuit to increase torque at pressure loads. And I don't need to fix anything more than swirls, I want it more to polish and shine the Mistress.

I'm leaning towards the da, but it's more like $179 not including pads or compounds.

I've got a griots 3" buffer already for my headlight restoration side job and it works great. It made my life so much easier. That's why I want a bigger one, I wanna make my car turn break necks.
